If you were in a staredown with the two, who would rattle you more?

I had a few pro fights in that era. Hagler was more of an intimidating guy I thought.
It was overall attitude though. Hagler was not exactly a congenial guy. Not that Hearns was Dale Carneige either but Marvin had that whole destruct and destroy thing going. His walk to the ring with the hooded robe and all that was pure gold too.

Look at Hearns' face against Duran. Thats fucken demonic. Couple it with his insane punch and I went Hearns.

They were both great at the stare down.
Overall I'd go with Hagler as I think a guy you know won't get tired and who you can't do anything to deter is more intimidating than a massive punch.

When Hearns came into the ring with that thousand yard stare - like Tyson - you knew someone was going to get hurt.

If I knew nothing about the 2 guys and I just bumped into them in everyday life and had problem with them for the sake of argument. Hagler was the more intimidating guy

Agree.
I loved his early nickname, "the Hitman".

I always thought Hearns looked a lot more menacing with his Jheri curls.

Remember the movie "Pulp Fiction"?
Both Hearns and Hagler would have been good in that, reciting Biblical verses before blowing guys away.

You have two slightly different kinds of intimidating. Hearns looked like the personification of the Grim Reaper, with his being so skinny and lanky yet oddly muscular at the same time by the time he reached Middleweight and that ghoulish facial bone structure. Add that one-shot power to the equation and that's a pretty intimidating figure.
Hagler just looked like a mean dude who would beat you down if you looked at him wrong. He wasn't very tall for a MW or anything but he looked like a hardened piece of steel in his build and his face mirrored that as well. You could picture him leading a platoon into hellacious battle in an alternate universe, he had that Drill Sargent look to him.

Definately Thomas Hearns stare was off the chain. Probably the most scary stare I have ever seen in boxing.

Hearns...because he could kill you with one punch.

No doubt Hearns! But if you knew what they could do then it would be Hagler, because how the vuck are you gonna beat this guy. So... If you know what they are about... It's Hagler. But if you don't then it would be Hearns.

I'd go with Hagler.
To me, Hagler just looks that way, whereas with Hearns, it looks as if he was trying to look intimidating.

I'd go with Hearns, something about that almost sleepy eyed 1000 yard stare just creeps me out. The look of a man that would kill you without a second thought and with no remorse, just business. Hagler looks like a guy who would kick your ass in a bar fight for looking at him the wrong way.

I mentioned the way Hearns stared right through Duran earlier, but what about that socipathic grin he gives Leonard during the first fight, while he walks backwards & forwards in his corner, stretching?
It's definitely Hearns over Hagler.

Hagler looked like a bad man.

Another thing about Hearns is that he was much taller then Hagler he was usually looking down on his opponent, and that makes the stare more intimidating. I think some posters on here are taken in by the fact Hagler was shaven head compared to Hearns gerry curl. But if you understand fighting, you know that don't count for sh1t.

Close ... Hearns maybe.
James Toney prime was one of the most intimidating.

Hearns. His staredown with Duran is enough to give a man nightmares.
