Was always going to be the case. I don't understand why they don't try and actually build up the fighters first. Hatton was on sky for ages, built a huge fan base and got the big pay days via ppv. Khan isn't doing the numbers, Haye will struggle now unless it's v Wlad/Vitali and i can't see many buying this for a British title fight. Cleverly really hasn't crossed over enough to be considered a joint ppv headliner.

Not exactly what I would call a PPV bill, but I'll probably still buy it for Degale Groves. Allegedly needs something else pretty big on this bill, or I have a feeling the PPV numbers won't be that great because none of these fighters have done anything to justify PPV in my opinion.

Ill buy it because im a fan so for me its a good fight, but im wondering how many casual fans would pay for this considering they make up most of the figures.
How many PPV's can we be expected to buy each year?

What is Warren's contract/agreement with Sky? Does he only have a number of normal Sky shows per year and then the rest can be PPV on a one off type basis?
This isn't a PPV fight/card, as Eddie Hearn said on Buncey's show the other week, Groves v DeGale is a good domestic industry showdown but not a PPV event and Cleverly isn't PPV worthy yet.
Just goes to show though, that in general people will pay for this, as they seem to be making enough money to justify them being PPV.
What next? Southern Area title fights as PPV?

Glyn writes in this month's Boxing Monthly about Sky stumping up the cash for the Groves/DeGale fight - as in covering the 450K ( or thereabouts ) winning bid for the fight.
To be honest, I wasn't quite sure of the whys and wherefors of this - it seemed very odd - So Dave Whatsit wins the bid, but doesn't end up having to actually pay?? Apparently so...
But on hearing this, it becomes clear the bums are looking to fleece their customers again, in order to cover "their costs".
I really hope their Khan PPV farce crashes and burns, WHAT a rip off that one is. No way I'll be paying for that sparring session.

I have SKY TV, SKY sports, SKY HD, SKY broadband and SKY talk, costing me approx £60 a month. For that I expect decent fights to be available on SKY sports and then big events to be PPV. I have no problem paying extra for Haye-Klit as it is a legit big event worthy of PPV. Khan-McCloskey, Groves-DeGale, Cleverly-Braehmar etc. are not big enough events to justify PPV.
As a boxing fan, I want to see the fight but I am not going to pay for Khan's fight and unless the undercard is seriously stacked then I am not going to pay for the May 21st date either. If events like these are a success then it will just lead to more and more fights becoming PPV in the future.

obviously this is what it takes for good matchups to be made, given the risks the fighters are taking.
is it worth forking out YET MORE money for, though?

I have Sky and won't be paying the extra for any of these shows, I'll find them on a stream out of principle. PPV should be for the best guys, could totally see why with Hatton fights and if Haye fights a Klitschko etc. These recent ones have just been offensive.

It surprises me more people don't just by the PPVs.
It strikes me that £15 for the Khan-McCloskey bill, or Cleverly/Degale-Groves is much better value than £40 per month for the rest of Sky's boxing output.

I'd imagine a lot of people follow more than just boxing though.
Does anyone know if the 'lesser' ppv's are really generating a lot of cash for people. If the buy is less than £100,000 is it really making that much of a difference to the overall income? I'd guess that advertising income will be less (smaller market), sky would take a cut and then presentation fees for sky

Hmm as much as I want to see all these fights I don't think they are deserving PPV's
They need a few more good match ups like the mag 7 to warrant me coughing up extra

Imagine back in the day if they'd tried to make a PPV of
Reid-Nardiello
Oliver-Mullings
They'd have barely made the cost of one of Robin's cinematic 'offerings'.

Disgraceful.
Blatant greed. Christ almightly, we are expected to shell out for domestic dust-ups now are we.
I cancelled my Sky subscription some time ago, and this just confirms my resolve not to renew it. I'm tired of being ripped off.
I've not watched much boxing of late, and for me, my interest is waning in the sport. The biggest fights don't happen, everyone involved wants paying through the nose, and too often the fights fail to live up to the hype.
I used to adore the sport, but my patience has been exhausted, things just seem to be going from bad to worse, and I cannot justify the exorbitant monthly cost plus PPV prices to watch it any more.

Option A: I'll be there
Option B: I'll be in a pub
Option C: I'll be watching a stream
0% chance of me buying this PPV

I've got the Sky package; sports, movies, internet and phone and it cost me £85 last month; when it's a PPV it goes over £100, nearly what it costs for gas and over the Council Tax payment.

Hopkins vs Pascal 2 isn't going to be part of it?
How did the Mag 7 bill do..... people seemed to be very impressed by that....... I guess that spiraled things.
