So, have you applied? I've gone a bit overboard and applied for 10 of my 20 sessions as the boxing.

Other sports applied for are football, basketball, swimming, diving, table tennis, weight lifting and athletics. And a cheeky punt on the Opening Ceremony

Realistically I can't see me getting more than a few events - all the sports I've gone for will be massively over subscribed.

Yep - think the ballot is open till late April, go on the official site. Its not on a 1st come basis so you can apply for up to 20 events but you have no idea what you'll end up with.

e.g. I could end up paying 2 grand if I get all my 20 events in the ballot - equally I could get sod all!

How Much are Tickets?

I've applied for boxing and wrestling.

20 quid upwards. Although I guess these will be the most oversubscribed.

You know it's not WWE style don't you?

Don't see the point in wrestling though, would imagine it's one of those sports where you need to see on TV to see in the intricacies of the holds etc. which may well be lost from the stands.

I applied for the afternoon session for the semi's and the final, the prices are a bit crazy mind!

Nope, went for the $20.12 tickets for that!

I've applied for a few sessions, I went to the Sydney Olympics as well.

Watched felix Savon , and met the big Cuban later that evening.

The olympic finals will be a hot ticket.

Will most of the boxing be solt out?,was thinking of holding back untill i see how the irish boxers are doing over there and trying to buy then. Any thoughts on what to do or buy?

Its not.Anyone caught selling tickets above face value will be hammered.Ebay,Seatwave,Viagogo and all the other big re-sellers are banned from selling them.They are setting up their own website for people to sell unwanted tickets at face value.The only way to tout is to do it at the venue and with security as tight as its going to be,that will be very difficult.Unofficial websites are being closed down already as soon as they spring up.I do a bit of re-selling online and can honestly say the Olympics are a no-go.

Not that I've ever touted anything - think I sold some football tickets once for under face value!

I've applied for the semi final sessions. Thought it would be the best way to see all of the best boxers.

Gone for the 100m final day and a few other athletic things plus a couple of days for the football

It's very much an acquired taste, but I'm going with one of the US coaches so will get a good view.

You've got until April 26 to get into the original ballot. They let people know what tickets they have got around June time. All the remaining tickets will go on sale later this year.
Can't see boxing selling out in the original ballot as there are 10,000 tickets per session and it's not cheap.

How is £20 not cheap??? Were you expecting Olympic boxing tickets to go for a tenner

I think you're underestimating the touts.

They may be restricted on certain websites but they will still make a killing in and around the venues. Every major sporting event there is the usual claims of cracking down on touts and it never happens. A few may get turned over but the professional tout gangs will go on mainly undisturbed.

There isn't a major sporting event I have ever been to where you haven't been able to get tickets (at what price is a different matter) and the Olympics, being one of the biggest of them all, will be no different.

£20 is cheap, but the cheapest tickets for the finals are £90.
