Hartlepool's Michael Hunter boxes for the vacant British super-bantamweight title against recently deposed British featherweight champion Roy Rutherford of Coventry on the big Ringside show at the York Hall on January 31, a show which also features the comeback of former IBO light-middleweight champion Richard Williams and the WBU light-heavyweight showdown between Matthew Barney and Belfast's big-hitting Darren Corbett. Good stuff.

Yeah, if Williams' opponent is decent, this must be an early contendor for small hall card of the year. 2 very intriguing and evenly matched contests, lets hope some more are added.

The rumour is Williams will be going for the vacant Commonwealth light-middleweight title, but there's a lot of movement needed between then and now for that to happen. Jamie Moore (also promoted by Ringside) will need to relinquish his Commonwealth belt firstly and then a decent challenger will have to be found to match Williams. I wonder if Michael Jones is in the frame...another Ringside fighter.

Unbeaten Dagenham stylist Nicky Cook challenges unbeaten Frenchman Cyril Thomas for the European featherweight title on January 31 at York Hall. On the same night, Hartlepool's Michael Hunter boxes for the vacant British super-bantamweight title against recently deposed British featherweight champion Roy Rutherford of Coventry (possibly), Richard Williams returns to the ring for the first time since last June (possibly in a Commonwealth light-middleweight title shot) and Matthew Barney defends his WBU light-heavyweight title against Belfast's big-hitting Darren Corbett.
It really does get better and better...

I find it hard to get worked up about Matthew Barney.....the rest of the bill looks good however.

I find it hard to get up for any of the show other than Williams.

They may not be all massive names but as far as decent British matchups go this is a strong bill, i hope Darren Corbett does not pull out again like he has been doing recently, maybe he just didn't fancy the job against Oakey? I hope Richard Williams can recover from his loss to Sergio Martinez, it was a big let down for me after the way he had disposed of Andre Pestraev and Paul Samuels in convincing style and of course that career best win over Shannon Taylor. A fight between him and Michael Jones could be a bit of a make or break for both guys with Jones also suffering a recent defeat to Jamie Moore.
