Rob McCracken could lose out on 2012

A new rule passed last month by the AIBA that states "Any coach active in professional boxing shall not be allowed to be a coach and/or second in both AIBA and/or WSB [World Series of Boxing] competitions... unless the coach resigns from any involvement in professional boxing for a period of at least six months"

So Rob McCracken may have some big decisions , the rule means that Rob cannot be in the corner of the boxers. This includes missing out on the World championships in September, as Rob will almost certainly be in the corner for Carl froch's fight with Glenn Johnson in May.

It is a pretty snide carry on. Top amateurs spar and train alongside good class amateurs. It is well known. Silly hypocritical nonsense and they will get rid of an excellent coach in McCracken. They ought to rock the boat; if they pointed the finger at other countries who had a pro/am mix and had them barred there'd be only Cuba and China in it.

Think McCracken's job was advertised at around £60-70k per year in nov 2009. He should still be invovled in the GB set up just presumably won't be allowed in the corner during bouts.

Not much consolation, but it's better that it's happened now rather than it being picked up after the games which could have resulted in any UK medallists being stripped.

What a daft lot. They will lose an exceptional coach. They are not living in reality.
