After succesive knock-out defeats to Tyson Fury, Audley and Big Larry - Belshaw is fighting a four rounder in Australia in May. It's strange what you find out when you randomly look at the boxrec schedule for upcoming fights.

I remember he was once being touted as the Irish George Foreman. He was 7-0 with 6 KOs going into the fight he lost against Daniil Peretyatko. His record since then reads 3-4 with 1 KO win and 3 KO defeats, all of which came inside two rounds. Am sure he used to post on here too and I think he had some sort of knee problem that caused him trouble.

He's actually a good boxer just a mixture of a dodgy chin and a poor defence (not a great combination) have let him down!

Belshaw is a giant. I remember watching him walk over the top rope at the national stadium for the Irish Intermediate final against a lad called Smith. I think it was intended to try to scare Smith who went on to outbox Belshaw for a while and opened up a cut on Belshaws face which led to the fight being stopped.
I have not seen or heard anything about Smith since.

Belshaws leg injury was as a result of a car crash right after his first defeat and it may be a contributing factor in his poor performances since then.

I think that Scott needs to concentrate on his boxing technique and speed. He is still young and with the right preparation he could still be a fairly successful boxer on the domestic scene.

can't see it - i think mentally he's 'gone' and if he can't get his mind right all the prep in the world won't help.

how would be pick up work in Australia, I always find it a strange, like Ellis had a couple in California, is boxing really that smaller world?

Boxing is a fairly small world, turn up at a pro gym, with a license and they will get you work, esp if you are not bothered who you fight, if you want wins you need to sell tickets!

Yeah the cruiserweight scene's pretty dire from what I see. Isn't it about time Danny Green had proper a fight with someone? Boxrec ranks him 3rd in the world ffs.

He's lined up to box Antonio Tarver next I think. Theire combined age is like 80 or something. I lived out in OZ for a while and they actully love their boxing. Never managed to get to anyshows out there right enuff. Will be interesting to see how Belshaw does out there

I remember Maloney raving about Scott B. About his huge power etc. The guy had absolutely no technique and was fighting Eastern European knockover jobs, so of course, he was going to look great.

A bit of a step up and basically he has been found out each and every time. Not his fault, to be honest, not every HW is going to be a contender.

He might do ok out there in Oz, but nothing and no way of progressing in the UK.

Royce Sio should blast Belshaw out pretty quick

Remember seeing Belshaw blast out Edgar Kalnars in 2008 at the Shorts Social Club in Belfast. Where did it all go wrong?

Yeah I've seen that before. He's very inactive though and lost recently to Micheal Kirby who posts on the Aussie and pacific forum, still think he'll have too much for scott Belshaw.

It's very poor take away David Tua (who is clearly on the slide) and Shane Cameron (who's boxes down at cruiser and in aussie since the Tua defeat) there's basically two americans Chauncy Welliver and Clarence Tillman (who co-incidentally I'm going to watch on thursday.)
Junior Pati (5-17-1) - A consistent opponent (I don't like using the word loser) is rated at 6 in the Boxrec N.Z heavyweight ratings.
Former Rugby League now All Black star Sonny Bill Williams is the new kiwi hope, he's fighting again in June but only has boxing as a hobby and second income at the moment.
So yeah Bleak, excuse the pun.

Its a bit surprising that boxing isn't more of a sucess in NZ, having travelled round there for a couple of months , there are some big units living there. So how come boxing isn't a sport of choice?

I think the big problem is that it's such a small country (about 4.5 mil.) and everybody loves rugby so much - it's religion here. Also there's no money in it. I've been to two shows here this year the first had 10 am. fights 2 corporate and only 2 pro. the second had about 12 corporate fights and 6 pro fights and the one I'm going to on thursday has I think 10 corporate fights and only 3 pro.s
Basically the corporate fights seem to pay for the pro fights which is ridiculous. For the Tua fight last month less than a thousand paying punters turned up. It probably didn't help that it was live on free to air t.v.
Incredibly here aswell you have more chance seeing Iron-man (triathletes) or even sheep sheering on skysports than you do boxing. Although at the moment they are re-running the old prizefighters from back home - but it seems I'm the only person whose watching them.

Just looking through the results page and notice Belshaw made a low key comeback (well more of last-minute replacement) Friday in Australia. Got knockout in the 3rd. Not sure why he made a comeback after 6 years against an undefeated fighter who can dig. His adviser/manager needs to be sectioned.

I have not seen or heard anything about Smith since.

Smith now does commentary for Sky sports.

Lucas Browne would probably have accommodated him if he could have won in this fight. But with no form and a lot of rust, I'd guess Belshaw won't win any fights from now on.
