I like finding out about what ex boxers went onto do when they finished there career.
Does anybody know what Kents/Londons Former Commonwealth Cruiserweight champion Derek Angol went onto do when he retired? Cheers.

Derek is a plumber, still lives in Gravesend, and is with Gravesend ABC as a patron

I was so sure he'd beat Tyrone Booze for the WBO title, but Derek just came out so fast and throwing way to many punches there was no-way he could keep it up for 12 rounds, Booze just covered up and tiredness set in for Angol.

I seem to remember he was a pretty good guitar player. Wonder if he still does that?

Eric is about the most knowledgable member on the forum, and rarely gets the credit for it, prob a bit of jealousy around as he is genuinely friendly with loads of boxers/promoters/managers etc, esp on the London scene.
I think we all saw from thread posting pics with yourself and fighters, how many he was with, even Ali

That was one of the most shocking results of 90s British boxing. Booze was supposed to do no more than make up the numbers so Angol could waltz to a world title.

A similar thing happened with Steve Robinson, although I reckon Angol was much higher regarded than Davison, making Booze's win an even bigger upset.

I went to this show, at the GMEX if memory serves, definitely Manchester. They guy behind me kept shouting "Through the middle Derek, through the middle" all the way throughout the Angol fight, which was actually good advice as Booze had his guard up by his ears!

There are a lot of trying journalists on here who would give their right arm for a tiny percentage of Eric's contacts and access to fighters.
Just look at the thing he did with Danny Williams the other day.

Thanks for the thumbs up Coco, yeah I am lucky to be in a position where I know most Boxers and have filmed most fights since 1987, I am privilidged, and do give honest opinions and info, as I have been there etc!!, I know some people take the piss etc, I dont mind, its all good fun, but as long as people get real info and not whispers, thats all I care about!!
Ohh andI to try and flog my DVDs of fights, :)
Funny enough, I have started to put my stuff onto DVD , and at the moment, I just done the footage from the royal Oak gym of the lads training/interviews, that I filmed for George Francis, its about 4 hours long, Bruno, Mason, Notice, Kaylor, McDonnell, Mugabi, Watson, Dent, Hudhes, Grainger, all training and sparring, none of Bruno or Mason sparring thi, incase you ask!!
Gonna look throught the Lennox stuff soon.

sounds good eric :!: especially as the sport was thriving in that golden era.

I was lucky to be involved and filming in that great era, late 80s upwards, Barry Hearns 1st shows in southend!!, Micheal Watson was on his way up, Lennox just turned pro with Frank, Ambrose doing his thang!!, Naz as an amateur!! great nights out, I do miss them days,.......

i have tape with my Amateur fights on it and it seems ot have snapped the film at some point
can you recommend somewhere i could get this fixed and transferred to DVD

is it something you could do ?

if so let me know cost ect
