Just saw on primetime website they will be showing Khan - McCloskey, Munroe - Isaesu, Murray - Carvalho and Watson - Purdy. So they are not showing Gary Buckland fight which is a shame, i think that sky would have shown the Buckland fight aswell tbh

No guarantee Sky would show even three fights on the evidence of the Haye-Harrison PPV, when they only showed two - the main event and the George Groves fight. Sky wasted all that time on their stupid video game and their supposed 'big gun' panelists, who may well have been great boxers in the past but had very little of interest to say about today's boxing. For all its faults, you'll definitely see more boxing on Primetime's show.

And I bet Primetime won't take the piss by showing adverts between every bloody round either. It disgusts me the way Sky does that with PPVs, HBO and Showtime would never dream of it. So disrespectful to the fan, sheer vulgar moneygrabbing. Imagine how much more interesting Haye-Harrison would have been had we heard what the corners were telling them between rounds.

But surely, Glyn, you can appreciate that Haye v Harrison was not a show for us internet saddos and hardcore freaks who could quote the top 15 canadian Super bantamweight rankings verbatim?

Haye - Harrison was the perfect show for Joe Casual - the guy in the pub who talks the loudest but knows the least. The same chap who would have signed up for the Roy Jones v Bernard Hopkins fight if he was American. Haye - Harrison sold plenty and Sky knew that most of their audience that night were tuning in for 2 fighters and would have struggled to pick Groves out of a 2 man line up. Their broadcast that night clearly catered for them. So they made a big spangly show, showed off their new touch screen toys, put Lennox in the ring with big Frank and didn't fill the airtime with Gary Davies and Enad Licina. And you can guarantee that Joe Casual went away happy at having seen Britains Heavyweight Champion blast out Audley in 3 rounds. The number of people disappointed that they didn't see Stuart Hall stretched to 7 rounds by Gary Davies could be counted on the fingers of a one-armed man.

Maybe there needs to be 2 broadcast options (one on the red button) - one for the casual which is all sky presentation and fancy tricks and one for us geeks who really do care about watching the undercard, regardless of its quality.

Oh definitely John, I understand that, but surely Sky should still cater for the thousands who watch their regular fight nights, who aren't just internet bods, as well as Joe Public. You can't just discard your regular boxing audience. That said, a red button option would be excellent and get around any such situations in the future.

Sky do it because companies want to pay for advertising then. More money! Primetime would they get the advertises who are prepared to do it.

Sky do it because companies want to pay for advertising then. More money! Primetime would they get the advertises who are prepared to do it.

I'm sure HBO and Showtime could get advertisers who wanted to be shown between rounds in the main event, but they choose not to for what ever reason.

Oh I agree. And maybe that's why there is an increasing focus on deep Magnificent 7 type cards that are pretty much solely for the hardcore and not Joe Casual. I think a balance is acceptable. I bought the Haye-Harrison card knowing exactly what I was getting - it was likely to be lower quality in terms of boxing than your average Saturday fight night, but I was more than happy to pay £15 to see Audley sparked. With Haye-Harrison and Magnificent 7, for example, I was paying the same money, but I knew I was buying different products.

That's 4 fairly good fights IMO, looking forward to seeing Martin Murray step up!

I think the adverts between rounds situation is a basic matter of respect for the viewer. As the King points out, they'd never slip adverts into movies on one of their dedicated film channels. But boxing is treated as a massive cash cow, that's why Sky are so keen on PPVs. They're raking it in, but how much of it is actually reinvested in the source of the money, boxing? I'd love to know that percentage. To me, the current situation is totally unjustifiable and something that could only happen in Britain, where the public are treated like shit, like enemies, and are expected to pay more for petrol, more in taxes, more for everything than most other places in the world.

The emergance of PrimeTime is a good thing.

But I have to say Khan has been badly advised here - as far as the information in the public domain permits sound judgement.
