When Ricky Hatton defeated Kostya Tszyu I recall reading an article in a major british newspaper about who he should aim for in his next few bouts. The names were Carlos Maussa, Paulie Malignaggi, Miguel Cotto, Zab Judah, Sharmba Mitchell, Junior Witter, Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo, Micky Ward, Arturo Gatti, Juan Diaz, Joel Casamayor, Marco antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez and Eirik Morales.
At the time Gatti was WBC champ, Cotto was WBO and Maussa was WBA
He fought maussa and castillo anyway but had he fought the others i think most would have resulted in a hatton victory. Do you think his career should have been managed differently, his legacy is as good as it could be or some of these opponents in there could have improved his legacy?

Him against either Gatti or Ward would have been WARS. I think them fights would have taken him to another level in terms of legacy. Gatti is as well remembered as Phernell whittaker, sometimes a fighter involved in great fights is considered to be more of a legend than a great fighter.

he should have fought junior witter after the fight when they both jumped in ring together and had as bit of banter and maybe i think junior would have possibly beat him but i think during the end of thier career he was still gunning for ricky hatton i think hatton would have beat very easily possibly a knockout via bod shot... lets just say rick hattons career was managed well and junior witters not so well...

I thnk its up to the person to say the right things too and hatton did that iwth his common man approach and the Football side of things.

Witter was good fighter and won world title but he didnt have the X factor publicity wise

Also Hattons always gave you value for money in his fights
throwing loads of punches always coming forward
