How would this pan out? Changing of the guard? Last big fight on proper tv for Froch? i think Degale hand speed could be too much to out point the aging Froch, could be good payday for Froch to finish his carreer.

Hard to say at this point if Degale will make it all the way. Also likely Froch will be up at light-heavy by that time.

He wants a big homecoming fight after the Super six, and wants to talk to all big promoters and be on TV so Im thinking this could be The Fight, now he's finished with Hennassy.

I wouldn't mind seeing this or Froch vs Clev.

Froch has more chance of beating Cleverly than Degale I think. no substitute for hand speed.

Although you imagine Clev holds a bigger advatange in the strength department than Degale or Froch (being the bigger guy) and that would be a problem for Froch whose strength at 12 stone is a massive strength,

Yeah, I'd give Froch an extremely slim chance against either man.

Both of those killers are streets ahead of the garbage Froch has been fighting lately.

Yeah you're right. But Stu does make a good point about Cleverly and the strength thing. I mean Cleverly is a complete wrecking ball isn't he. Overpowering opponents, making Ike Ibeabuchi v Chris Byrd look like a picnic in Hyde Park. I'd pick the guy against anybody. The fact Froch has fought Jean pascal who I reckon weighed more on fight night than Cleverly does on his fightnights is irrelevant. Cleverly is great.

Plus the fact he has a 2:2 in Maths means he can easily do cartesian co-ordinate geometry of the x-y plane (those with A-level maths all laugh with me now.)

Seriously the day I think Cleverly can overpower Froch is the day I shoot myself in the head.

I don't see it happening as it very early days in DeGale's career in the paid ranks and Froch is looking for big paydays now that he is 33 and sooner or later the ring wars with Jean Pascal and Mikkel Kessler for example will sooon catch up on him (as much as I hate to say it), I reckon Froch's priorities will be Glen Johnson and then if he gets past Johnson beat the winner of Andre Ward/Arthur Abraham, beat them and then go after Lucian Bute for a huge unifaction match will be a massive homecoming fight at the City Ground as Froch is a passionate Forest fan and he has always stated that he has always wanted to fight at the City Ground, and then once he has become king at Super Middle step to Light Heavy rematch Pascal for another thrilling fight of the year candidate and then hasta la vista. And if Froch did go with James DeGale I reckon Froch would destroy him as Froch (at the moment) has too much experience and class and a defeat would shatter DeGale's confidence and allegedly's plans too.

Firstly lets see how Degale does agains Groves, secondly no way will Clev fight Froch. Nathan is struggling to stay at LH so can see him moving up to CW very soon.

I can't see Kessler fancying a rematch with Froch. I reckon he's still got a headache from their last ruck.

I'm not so sure that DeGale is ready for Froch right now.

DeGale is a tremendous prospect & he's got the gob to back up his talent too, but he's still a bit too raw to be put in with the massively strong & determined Froch who is probably still at the top of his game.

City fan? As for a homecoming,if it was to be against Bute, the far bigger money would be for the bout to take place in North America.

Sorry I made an error as I was still thinking City ground when I was talking about Froch

the one thing i think is lacking from Froch's game is hand speed, He's strong and hits hard but speed wins fights at the very top, not sure if he can create more speed now, but that is his weak point and sumthing he needs to work on.

He is no lightning merchant granted. But at the end of the day he looked slow against Jermaine Taylor and against Andre Dirrell and won both those fights (even if you think he lost the Dirrell fight admit it was a close one.) Is DeGale quicker or gonna be quicker than those guys? Because I'd say Dirrell has a claim to being the quickest in the division at the mo.

Froch didn't look so slow and sluggish against Abraham or Pascal or Kessler. So while he aint a slickster I think his lack of speed is overstated a lot. To say now that DeGale is gonna go on and be up there with the current crop of top Supermiddles is jumping the gun in my opinion. Sure he is very good but we need to see him in with a guy who not only takes what he has but actually clocks him back and wins rounds. Froch had that experience early against Charles Adamu and managed to pull through to win, I'd actually say that fight was vital in his development......I'll ctually go so far as to say that was the most important fight he had until he won his World title because he learned the lessons from winning that guys like David Haye learnt in losing to Carl Thompson. Degale is yet to have that experience but one day he will and it will be then that we can start asking how he will do against the top5 in the division.

I rate DeGale highly but Froch would hurt him now and in the near future.

There is a very good chance that Carl is a better fighter than both DeGale and Clev will ever be.

Can't see him fighting either. Once the super 6 is done and dusted he will only have two more fights at the most, Kessler and Pascal up at light heavy.

It would be an interesting fight to watch. DeGale is very quick, moves beautifully, and throws a lot of punches, but Froch would laugh at most of them. My opinion is DeGale would not be able to survive Carl Froch for 12 rounds, and it wouldn't do him any good trying.

It would be interesting to hear Jim McDonnell's view on this. If you put a lie detector to his head, I reckon he'd agree.
