I seem to remember this fight was pulled by the bbc due to advertising issues(?) with one of the boxers shorts???

its all very hazy. I had to listen on the radio. This fight is not on youtube and ive never been able to see it.

sounds like Sibbo did a collins job on Alan

anyone remember the issues about this fight's screening ?

I think a similar thing happened with Tom Collins v Alex Blanchard

Minter had "DAF Truck" signs on his waistband, so TV refused to screen the fight. It was taped and a very poor quality version exists. I don´t know if it got out, but many collectors have that fight.

The Collins v Blandchard fight also exists, but from dutch TV.

Yeah the DAF trucks advert was a typical wide boy stroke tried by minters trainer and father in law Doug Bidwell. Spoilt it for loads of BBC viewers.

About 12 years ago i managed to get hold of a black & white copy recoding of the fight and yes Tony battered Minter and broke his nose in the third.


Tony basically walked through him.

I've seen the fight, Minter starts of boxing really nicely behind his long sharp right jab, but Sibbo's aggression begins to put Minter on the back foot and he starts to land his combinations with Minter against the ropes. The finish is a beauty!!

Didn't Sibson drop Minter 3 times in the 3rd. And just before the fight did Minter walk over to Sibson's corner to taunt him ?

They have shown the ending on the Beeb, and it is pretty brutal. A fired-up Sibbo caves in Minter's nose with a final left hook; poor Minter crashes to the floor.

yeah, from memory i think sibson was squaring up into southpaw as he throws the left, it really came through with all the torque of Sibson's shoulder, as it tended too with his left hook. brutal finish
