May 28th in Auckland, NZ Fight for Respect 2!!
Former NRL Player Jason Williams takes his next step in his professional boxing career fighting South Auckland Hitman Joe Betham in a 4 round heavyweight bout. Williams faced a tough debut opponent in John Szigeti, but has learnt from the experience and is now back eager to show hes a worthy heavyweight prospect!!!
Also on the card is rising NZ Super-Middleweight talent Gunnar Jackson who squares off against always tough and always game Vano Kake of the Cook Islands in what should be an interesting explosive match up!!!
Jackson is also slated to fight May 14th against Dickey Peirera in his hometown of Tauranga, NZ![

Is Williams still playing for the Te Atatu Roosters? He seemed overweight when he fought Szigeti.

Craigie me mate. Do your best to drown "corporate" shit. It's slowly but surely killing pro boxing in NZ
Semi-professional bouts is also a concern

Mate im 100% behind pro boxing in NZ, however the corporates are the ones who sell the tickets mate 90% of the pro boxers here wouldnt sell 10 tickets between them with the exception of a few of the popular guys. However I know where your comming from, I always put on 2 pro fights on each of my shows obviously to keep my pro guys moving along but also because I dont believe in this "corporate" only promotions whereby the promoters pay the fighters nothing (and lets be honest the corporates dont deserve to be paid anyway) and then walk away with a fat cheque cause the corporates do fill the house! Having said that the sanctioning bodies should force the promoters hand and demand that on ALL corporate shows there must be at least ONE professional bout this will soon cut out the promoters trying to make a quick buck on corporates only and also keep the professional boxing scene alive as we'll see more professional bouts. But the sanctioning bodies obviously make there coin from doing shows and i doubt they wanna "upset" the promoters you "feed" them so to speak.
Im currently negotiating to have 3 full professional cards a year on TV in NZ but all comes down to the bottom line as it does in any business like situation
Champs in Paris yid?

When you sent me the promotion info on your 28th may show it says that it's a fun raiser for you and your coach to go to the world champs in paris - I assumed you were fighting there. That's great news about the 3 full pro cards and the deal with nz t.v hope it comes off.
Did you go to the last fights at the aba (28-04) I see Isaac Peach lost, I thought he looked excellent in march - what happened?

NZPBA's brief:
Anderson was not expected complete the bout and was regarded as a work out for Peach. How wrong they were! Anderson kept boring in like a “relentless bull terrier” and upset Peach’s rhythm, and scored well on the inside. He bustled Peach and Peach was not able to score as well as he liked at long range.

Apologies for the confusion Yid, its in fact for a friend of mine and her coach competing in weigh lifting trying to qualify for the olympics!
As for Peach, I was never hot on him from the beginning, I dont really like the "he cant punch" saying but Peach style seldom sees him really sit down on his punches thus allowing guys like Andersen to just walk up on him and not "fear" the big one landing. I dont think hes adjusted well enough from the amateurs, and Andersen whos really a part-time boxer was allowed to just do as he pleased to an extent.

Peach way over-rated and done a decent job padding his record thus far...Anderson fights like Garth Wood....this was a messy, ugly, shoulder-charge led fight..... in any event Anderson won....ugly or not

Corporate's sell tables and further highlights how much catch up Pro boxing in NZ has to do... main stream don't really give a shit and low caliber, lop sided - pad your record bouts haven't helped..... people aren't stupid anymore - apart from when it comes to Sonny Bill Williams LMFAO

If and when someone gets seriously hurt.....then it will. I recall a show in AKL early last year.... one bloke way out of shape with high blood pressure who had 2 tables come to watch was desperate to fight...sure enough he got dropped heavily. Fortunately he recovered and hopefully doesn't box again....ever...I mean corporate box again.....
