Since the consensus was Jeffries has Walcotts number, how does he fare in this one?
I see a great, great clash, personally.

I'm coming to that conclusion as well, actually. Marciano might even be at a stamina disadvantage for once, & he would unquestionably be at a mammoth strength deficit in close-quarters. I think it's a great, bruising, mauling contest --- & I'm thinking Jeffries on a competitive, but fair, decision.Sven Tingstrom wrote:Jeffries was a "big Marciano." Similar styles. Big punch in one hand - Jeffries the left; Marciano the right. A good big man beats a good little man; a great big man beats a great little man. The great big man wins here.
Actually I think Walcott gets a points win over Jeffries.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Since the consensus was Jeffries has Walcotts number, how does he fare in this one?

Marciano by stoppage round 6-9.Goodnight, Irene wrote:I'm coming to that conclusion as well, actually. You do know what consensus means, right? Just so we're on the same page, it isn't a synonym for, 'Crease.'Crease wrote:Actually I think Walcott gets a points win over Jeffries.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Since the consensus was Jeffries has Walcotts number, how does he fare in this one?

Marciano in as few as six rounds?Crease wrote:Marciano by stoppage round 6-9.Goodnight, Irene wrote:I'm coming to that conclusion as well, actually. Jeffires was bigger, faster, & stronger, and likely had the better chin. Rocky is giving up about 35 pounds in weight, and 8" in reach. I would pick Jeffries to win.Sven Tingstrom wrote:Jeffries was a "big Marciano." Similar styles. Big punch in one hand - Jeffries the left; Marciano the right. Well if your analysis is a ccurate, yes you would have to say that Jeffries would have it.pound per pound wrote:Sven Tingstrom wrote:Jeffires was bigger, faster, & stronger, and likely had the better chin. Rocky is giving up about 35 pounds in weight, and 8" in reach. I would pick Jeffries to win.
The first fight with Sharkey wasn't that close. Everyone agreed it was a tough fight, but a decisive win for Jeffries. Jeffries was suffering from a bad left elbow in the second fight, so that's not a good analogy. No, Jeffries clearly takes Marciano 5 out of 5.The Great John L wrote:Jeff would be the logical choice, but he did have two very difficult fights against The Sailor, whose size, skills and style were somewhat similar to The Rocks. Based on those fights I would expect this matchup to be a distance fight and very competitive with a slight advantage to Jeff. If they fought 5 times I would say Jeff probably wins 3 of the 5 and all of them are very competitive.
