Could have happened but didn't. So how does a 15 rd world title fight in 1973 between these two turn out ?

Probably would have been a very close fight. Foster was certainly past his best it by this point, but he probably had just enough left to pull it out. Close 15 round decision.

I'd go with Conteh. He was an absolute beast around this time, whereas Foster was noticeably slipping. Then again, as the Ahumada fight showed, the most Conteh may've been able to get away with was a draw.

bob foster for me, conteh would have had problems with fosters reach, Foster by points.

..the conteh i saw against muhaamned saad in their first fight was as good as any light heavy i've seen when it came to brilliant boxing...a marvel and even with saad's usual comeback at the end i think conteh won that fight.

against foster? yeah, the reach would be a problem...so...i dunno. i lean so little toward conteh that it looks as if i'm standing up straight. based on that one fight i pick conteh...but foster had the better over all career.....and even when he was losing his edge could still whip out that left hook. it's getting late and i'll be arguing about this one when i'm in bed and dammit it's going to keep me awake for too long a time....

If the Saad Muhammad fight is all you have to go on, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

The version that took on Saad was a lot more limited than the younger version, although I will admit he showed some of his best defensive chops in that one. Truly a last hurrah type performance for Conteh.
