What is the argument regarding Castillo (a very good fighter, to my eyes).

I see. I guess this is the latest of a few fighters Saad & I have some rather sturdy disagreements on. Castillo is worthy of any defence mounted of him in that thread. I was looking into Castillo (after researching a few other fighters with whom his time over-lapped) a few years back.

What is Saad's objection?

saad rates chucho very low
That's not true. I don't think he is in JLC's league or a top 30 Bantamweight. That's far from eternal damnation.

Memphis Pal Moore has one of boxing's great resumes.

Here's a description of his boxing style after he upset Jimmy Wilde.

"Moore is fast on his feet and uses both hands with fine result. He has a fine defense and hits from any position. His best hand is his left, and he uses it with great effect. He can hook it and jabs with it like lightening. Moore's speed with his hands robs his punches of much of their weight. While the American is not a knocker-out he has been known to score often enough to almost blind his opponents into submission.

I rate Castillo extremely highly. I think he, Herrera, and Olivares were a superior Mexican trio to the more reknowned one of recent times. Talent-wise, anyway.

You think Castillo and Herrera were more talented than Morales & Barrera? Nonsense

More talented. More skilled. Inherently better. Whatever have you, they were.

Nonsense on all accounts. They weren't fit to shine their boots.

That's your opinion. Taking size out of the equation, I think Castillo would've boxed someone like Morales's ears off. As strong an upright offensive boxer-puncher as he was, Morales was awful defensively for a world class fighter. Too stiff. Barrera was the more varied of the two, better to watch as well, but still lacked the versatility or silky smooth skillset that guys like Castillo, Herrera, and Olivares possessed. They blended all of the elements together seamlessly, albeit in different ways. Ways none of the modern trio could, though.

It's as simple as watching them fight and taking mainstream status out of the equation. For me, anyway.

I've seen them fight, Morales was better than Castillo at every aspect of the sport. You're making Chuco out to be Pernell Whitaker. He was far from a difficult target. While Erik wasn't the smartest fighter, he was capable of defense. Watch the Maidana fight.

We agree on one thing, the conclusion is simple. I agree with you more often than not. While you say take the mainstream status out of the equation, which I always do, you seem to be trying to go the extra mile there. No way in hell Castillo or Herrera was more talented, more accomplished or more anything than Morales or Barrera. That's just plain wrong.

No, but it sums up your views on this topic perfectly, which is why I stopped reading. There's no point in drawing out the argument with such massively dissenting opinions. I, too, believe we see more or less eye to eye on most topics, but this is one of those cases where we're simply going to have to agree to disagree. Strongly.

I'm surprised you felt the need for another reply. When you stopped reading my posts, the debate ceased to exist.

It isn't even an argument to me. I can't even agree to disagree, we would have to agree that you're totally wrong.

The childish conduct was your own. Unless you consider taking the time to type out that you didn't read my response the adult thing to do. If we were talking you may as well have put your hands over your ears and screamed na,na, na, na...I can't hear you...na,na,na, etc..

And you might want to learn to differentiate between a joke and an insult. But I can't expect much coming from the guy who thinks Rafael Herrera was more talented and more accomplished than Erik Morales. You've embarrassed yourself in this thread. Best to move on.

We all can't be expected to measure up to your literary genius. Of course it is amusing that you're tossing around another insult that you've feebly failed at yourself.

I'm just glad you're back to reading my posts. Of which you can have another 1,000 if you want to carry on with this nonsense.
