Sorry F rank, Kell is COMPLETELY comfortable at welterweight

Having seen Mr Wa rren's quotes in Terry's piece today, it has to be said that for once the UK's leading promoter has got his facts wrong. (
http://www.BS.com/warren-fires ... ell--39119 )
Despite Fr ank's comments that Kell is essentially killing himself to make 10'7, the truth is very different. Kell is bang on it in training and currently weighing just over 11st with five weeks to go before the fight. Dominic Ingle told me today that he is absolutely bang on schedule and will cruise the weight, probably hitting the mark about ten days before fight night. THe truth is that Kell makes weight very comfortably these days and always has WHEN HE HAS TRAINED HARD. Dave Coldwell, who also trained Kell, will glady confirm that probs only ever occurred when Kell was messing around. He hasn't done that for a long time. To be honest, Kell could even make 10st for the right fight. Light middle isn't on the agenda at all.
Kell is a natural welter and wants to compete at his natural weight. He may well move up at some point but not for the forseeable.
Mr Warre n's comments, that Kell will end up 'dead on his arse at the weight', could be interpreted as an attack on the professional competence of his trainer Dominic who would never allow Kell to get in the ring at anything less than 100%.
As a solicitor myself and one who successfully defended Kell in his appeal against conviction, i can also confirm that Kell was never going to get a custodial sentence for this offence. Mr Warre n's letter was no doubt very helpful to Kell's mitigation but even without it Kell would have been facing a sentence in the community. As it is, Kell's innocence was confirmed in due course and he is man of good character with no criminal convictions. He's not a 'bad lad' at all.
Still, I'm sure that F W wishes Kell all the best in the future. I know that Kell and his dad are both very grateful for F W's assistance in helping him get where he is today and from their point of view at least they wish F W well

If Warren's telling the truth about Kell's Dad, Kell needs to keep his Dad away from his career. Manny Pacquiao?! Riiiiight.
We've had quite a few bits of news and rumours filter through that give some indication as to why Kell hasn't been active. I think Warren probably did the best job he could, and as good as anyone else could. It seems like Kell's current position in his career, which is a good one, is self-chosen.
So all that's left for Kell to do is keep winning, and Matchroom will get him a title shot at some stage. Kell, don't turn it down, and don't let your Dad turn it down.

Fighting a Mike Jones over in the states would have raised his profile there nicely....

Brutal ko coming real soon.... no wonder you were defending the flawed Ingle technique, you are an associate of them.
Talk about biased judgement!! but hey, what would you expect from a lawyer?

Yeah yeah, stuff and nonsense aside there's been a lot of 'talk' about Kell Brook and how good it is, so let's see him do his stuff where it counts, between the ropes. For all the hype he's not done much yet has he. Unsatisfactory ending against Jennings didn't show anything. If he's that good he'll blow away a shopworn Lovemore Ndou. A plodding 12-round win won't do, he's got to win in style. Then we'll take it from there.
Time to spit or get out of the pan.... ironically, I just googled that saying using speech marks to nail it right down and the only site found was a story about none other than Junior Witter! How weird!

Eddie is only 31. I know he is outrageously good looking but I thought he was a few years older than that.

Jon - never mind the merits of your repeated points about the Ingles.
Do you accept that your repeated use of the word 'brutal' (and now capitalisation for emphasis of it) gives the impression that you are really looking forward to him being badly knocked out?

Hi Ian,
Can I ask you this before I answer.
How many people do you think used to watch Hamed in the hope that he would get badly knocked out?
I feel that Brook has no real substance and will be on the end of a harsh dose of reality once he steps up to the higher echelons.
Now back to my motivation, well to answer you directly yes in all truth I really love watching "brutal" Ko's, for example I particularly like Tim Witherspoon Vs Anders Eckland, and obviously Jackson v Graham.
I can see an Amir Khan v Prescot brutal KO coming the way of Brook.
Anyway WHO doesn't like watching "brutal" ko's? I mean don't we all love the beautiful violence that boxing gives us?
I never want to see any fighter hurt EVER in this sport but I LOVE watching someone getting KTFO, there's nothing better!
Don't you like seeing the likes of David Haye sparking someone Ian?

I THINK you've said you're looking forward to seeing Kell being badly knocked out but you've given yourself plenty of room to manoeuvre.
Actually, I don't like seeing brutal KOs. Don't know if it's because I'm getting older or what. When Craig Watson got up on automatic pilot after being cracked by Lee Purdy, and obviously had no clue as to where he was, I was a bit uncomfortable. Think I'm turning into an old woman.

What does this mean when talking about N'dou
He's 39 years old, 3 or 4 months off not being eligible by the BBBofC to fight in this country
:??
Skelton was 40 odd when he was fighting.

It's nice to see that allegedly is consistent when speaking about fighters that have left him.
It's a pity that Terence didn't ask him about Calzaghe's money.

i dont think that you're turning into an old woman. Boxing fans don't like to see fighters get badly hurt. As game as Sam Webb was, for instance, i thought they should have stopped that fight 3 rounds early as the result was not in doubt at that point.
I'm happier to see great displays of technical boxing mixed with fighters heart , like, say the Froch vs Kessler fight.
If you like sheer brutality go and watch UFC. Not interested in that personally.

Kessler v Froch
was brutal! but I see where you're coming from you don't want to see someone get beatdown continually round after round with no comeback but to most boxers a KO is like scoring goal of the year and it's a real achievement to get one at the higher end of the sport.

yep agreed. a spectacular KO is a special achievement, but there was something equally worrying as thrilling about the way, say, Pac floored Ricky H. I was there and whilst it was incredible for the next few minutes most people around were genuinely worried, but that was a one punch KO, like Martinez' against Williams - those things are incredible technically too, but watching what i would call a 'brutal' KO isn't what I pay my money for - i'd rather see 12 rounds of quality than someone just sparking someone else. Khan v Maidana was spectacular without anyone getting brutally KO'd - people get hurt in boxing, stunned, knocked over and when you see 2 fighters swimming in deep waters, refusing to lose, those are the most thrilling fights, not Khan getting flattened by Prescott haymakers after 30 seconds or Haye smashing Audley to pieces.

I disagree with what I've bolded, I think 3 rounds early and the fight was very much a contest. I had Webb in a lead at that point. I wouldn't have allowed him to go into the 12th round... but my card had is level at that point. I did have Webb clean sweeping the opening 4 rounds mind.
