Ian John Lewis should be ashamed

of raising Tom Dallas' hand there. 2 rounds at least in Page's favour. Disgraceful
exactly. even after the Klitschko v Briggs farce.bfchunk wrote:Then he gets the Hopkins - Pascal gig
Your right.....I think he is a good ref....In regards to his judging I think he believes he is doing the fighter a favour but ultimately he is giving himself and boxing a bad name.forcefraser wrote:He is not a bad ref, just a poor judge.
Poor or corrupt?forcefraser wrote:He is not a bad ref, just a poor judge.
I could not believe the cheek of Froch when he point blank refused to go to Germany for the Abraham fight because "some strange decisions happen out there". And he seriously expected them to come here, even after the Dirrell fight...nh1 wrote:Yes, another very poor decision.
Makes me laugh the way people always talk about how difficult it is to get a decision in Germany, when right here in the UK we have barmy verdicts like this one.
The cheek? Froch was only trying to do what the other promoters in the super six were all doing for their boxers. I don't blame him for not going to Germany. How many champions have had one home fight out of (potentially) six?mickey1975 wrote:I could not believe the cheek of Froch when he point blank refused to go to Germany for the Abraham fight because "some strange decisions happen out there". And they'd be right to think that. It happens all over the world. Look at Shaw making sure the scorecards were filmed at the end of the Sylvester-Geale match to prevent any Sauerland shennanigans. The dodgy decision of Huck-Lebdev.The outrageous robberies in the states last year. Shuemenov-Campillo and Kotelnik-Alexander. I think it could get to the point where promoters are reasoning "Well they're sure as hell going to try and fornicate me and my fighter over, so I may as well do the same to them!" Recently there was a bit of a fuss over the officials for Ward-Abraham. Unfortunately it seems to becoming the norm and I wonder how long the fans will put up with it? What will it take for them to say "Sodit! I'll watch the footie instead"?princess wrote:`Too many dodgy things going on just lately No wonder some people think boxing is corruptMachoMan09 wrote:The BBBoC need to show some real strength and integrity and get a grip of this situation. I can appreciate your point to an extent; but; championship boxing is a contest and not an exhibition. If a challenger doesn't want to get into it and work hard they shouldn't take the fight. Fannying about and looking to the ref, moaning and spoiling etc just doesn't do it for me. There's nothing wrong with a bit of commitment and graft to take a title. At least they should show that they want it; I've seen some who either don't fancy it or try to pox the fight.LeedsLad wrote:I can see Froch's beef though with the Sauerlands.... there was at least one ''resident'' judge on that night, who to make his scorecard look somewhat realistic gave Froch both the last two rounds to make it 9-3![]()
As for Dirrell, you can't fight like a coward and then bleat about a robbery. I'm not into all this ''take it from the champion'' stuff, but he didn't deserve to win the fight.
A couple of years ago we were going through a phase where several away fighters were given the benefit of a close decision.... this year seems to be full of hometown calls and bullshit scorecards.
Slightly off topic I know, but on Skybet you can bet on split or majority decisions - well worth it for close-ish domestic title fights coming in, because the judges can't agree on anything at the minute.
A significant number of our officials are disgraceful, can't score a fight for toffee.... Ian John Lewis has had three shockers recently. Not stopping Klitschko vs Briggs, the Prizefighter farce and now this. Compared to the likes of Kenny Bayless, Raul Caiz and Steve Smoger.... our lot fall well short.
WTF wrong with the board these days Theres been so many cock ups just recently Its a old boys network Thought things would change under Robert Smith being a ex fighter and young But seems to be getting worse :(Glyn Leach wrote:I thought it was a terrible decision, but that the Board hung IJL out to dry a little with this one. He couldn't win. If he went Dallas, he would look biased, if he went Page he would have been slagged off by the locals in his and Dallas's area. It was absolutely unnecessary for the Board to appoint a referee from another Medway Town to officiate a Dallas fight, they laid IJL and themselves open to criticism by doing so.
"even after the Dirrell fight" - yeah that british ref and those british judges really shafted Dirrell didnt they you muppet :-mickey1975 wrote:I could not believe the cheek of Froch when he point blank refused to go to Germany for the Abraham fight because "some strange decisions happen out there".
