Everyone is talking about it but was wondering how many more people are backing Degale than Groves, personally i think Degale in 6 rounds

i think it will go the distance , unless Degale gets him on ropes and ref jumps in early like few of the warren shows

surely this fights too big for that to happen though :bag:

think Groves will start well and fade bit in later rounds by trying to put too much into the fight early.

Kindov like to see groves win though

Degale, but not having him as a 10/3 ON favourite at all . No sirreee

It would be rude not to have a bet on Groves KO/TKO at 9/2

No he's not, he's a prat...

Groves by TKO....

The easy option is to plump for DeGale on points because he's slicker, but I have a feeling George will give him all kinds of trouble. I hope he does.

oh he certainly is but i find his tourettes-esque verbal faux pas's very entertaining...

well naz could actually say something without getting all his words mixed up.

'billy hardly' still cracks me up to this day....

perhaps Degales problem is that he has a horses tongue to go with his horses head thereby making it difficult to speak clearly??

Surely an unlikable version of Naz is Naz...non? A total Yigger.

Anyway, I think Degale will take it either on points or a late mercy stoppage. Don't see him winning early, he doesn't have the pop. I haven't seen anything to suggest Groves is Chinny, it took a few for Anderson to get him down and recovered from it and won.
Degale for me though looks like he has more facets to his game at present, he can fight on the inside, he can fight off the ropes, he can get rough, can slip punches, he can tuck up well...in short he looks to have a bit of an old head on young shoulders. I also highly doubt there are any stamina issues considering McDonnel's his trainer.
Groves looks like a Haye clone and without Haye's power that isn't a good thing to be. I actually think Haye's pretty sloppy but his power makes it work for him, opponents try to walk him down and he gets the opportunity to nail them (with a punch-you dirty minded lot you). Again, Groves doesn't have that kind of pop p4p and that just makes him defensively open.
I think Groves will have his moments, I don't think it will be a one sided affair although this post probably reads that way. I just think Degale is a lot closer to being the finished article.

I have seen Groves in the flesh and been moderately impressed

seen Degale for the first time vs Smith and was very impressed. that's where I am coming from here.

I actually really like both fighters.

For me Groves has came through a feckin tough assignment in Kenny Anderson and on that basis, I'm putting my pennies on Groves.

I think DeGale on pts or late stoppage but I expect Groves to be very confident and give him some issues early on.

I still think Groves would be better served boxing a more orthadox style rather than him apeing Haye. They were still "working" on this only a few fights ago where Booth was telling him where to place his head when ducking under fire so I hope there's no string of excuses ready.

That's brilliant. He's a total buffoon but not in a Bruno likable way. I really hope Groves sparks him out early, but I'm going for Degale via a wide UD.

When he was fighting - before he disappeared up his own arse - he was cocky but he had a certain cheek with it outside of the ring.

I'm talking when he was at the same point as DeGale in their respective careers.

Naz was a twat in the ring - as Belcastro, Robinson and subsequent foes will testify - but he had a certain charm and while people wanted him to get knocked out he still filled out arenas on both sides of the pond. DeGale never will.

I want Groves to win, but I think De Gale will win with a late stoppage, maybe around Rd 11 or 12.

Just on a side note, re: what people have been saying about De Gale mixing his words up all the time. I wonder if he's got verbal dyslexia? He does it so often.

I know that 'faulty phrasing' can be a sign of dyslexia. Not sure if there is such a thing as 'verbal dyslexia', more that what De Gale displays may be verbal tell tale signs of possible dyslexia.

Not that I particularly care one way or the other. I just found it interesting.

Slightly off topic but dont forget Hooky that Belcastro stuck the nut in on Naz numerous times during the fight, he deserved to have the piss taken out of him.

Robinson - I agree Naz went a little too far that night

I don't disagree, he was a dirty bastard himself...and he had an odd-shaped head, a bit like a coconut.

I wasn't really talking about his behaviour in the ring but the way he talks, his haircut...just him in general. Gobby little c*nt. Don't like people like that.

I was originally thinking Degale, hoping for Groves but as the fight gets closer I've managed to convince myself of a Groves stoppage.

Won't be putting money on it though.

Unfortunately, DeGale is too slick.

Groves has a chance, if he can make DeGale come to him. Not much between them, in terms of speed and Groves does posses the bigger dig.

Going to be interesting.
