Everybody liked Paul Smith before he fought DeGale and look what happened there. All I'm saying is that people need to calm down a bit and not get carried away. We all want Bomber to do well but perspective and a step-back and a quick think is sometimes sage.

I await Sunday morning with interest. Tony Bellew was right to call for this fight, it may well be the only opportunity he gets to fight for a world title and I'm sure he'll be paid handsomely for the privilege. In the event that he is comprehensively beaten, I'd urge those of you who are virtually fellating him now to remember that he has taken the fight at late notice, will have drained weight quickly and is pretty much relying on a powerful right hand to win. I know you'll all say "of course we will" before the event. Please don't change tack and mention being "ripped off", "exposed", "all mouth and no trousers" etc etc... come Sunday. If you buy the PPV and are left with a sour taste in your mouth, you've nobody to blame but yourself.

I agree, I didn't like the way posters turned against Smith, maybe that was more to do with him not posting here any more

In what way are people getting carried away? People are getting excited about a domestic grudge match between two fighters - one being a national star and one being an amiable forum favourite.

If people were getting carried away Macho, then people would have voted for Bomber more than 13 times in comparison with the 60 nods that Clev has got.

They are getting carried away because they appear to be more excited and more willing to stump up PPV money for the last minute Cleverly vs Bellew than they were for the proposed Braehmer vs Cleverly. That's what I can't get my head around.

Like I've said - Bomber has many fans on these forums, and am sure this fight appeals more to these fans (not forgetting it's a grudge match) than the Braehmer fight does.

indeed....is it really so difficult to undertsand that a fight between 2 brits in britain is going to appeal more to british than a fight between a brit and a german?

I can understand the man on the street getting more fired up for a fight because they can understand the language both fighters are speaking during the pre-fight hype conferences. I (wrongly) thought that those who follow the game a little closer would be capable of being a little more calculated and discern the superior quality of the match-up that has fallen by the wayside.
