Lots of people last week boldly stating that Degale would outclass Froch if they met this year.

Clearly very premature comments.

I had Degale a narrow winner tonight but don't think the result harms either fighter. Personally, I'd like to see a quick rematch whilst the rivalry is still 'hot'.

I get the feeling that Groves will fall just short at top level and, like Nigel Benn before him, this setback could be the making of Degale. I'd also tip Degale to take the fight to Groves more in the rematch as there were signs he could hurt him.

Great to finally see unbeaten, talented and ambitious fighters being matched in meaningful bouts. Long may it continue.

Lots might have been overstating it, but there were a few making daft comments to that effect.

Froch is a league above both lads right now - as you'd expect him to be.

But you need 15,000 fans, dodgy judges and be prepared to have your face opened up like a tin of beans to actually 'beat' Froch.

I don't think Degale is cut from the right cloth to do it. Especially now Carl has started following McCracken's exact orders, he's evolving even more into an all-rounder, rather than a brute with a iron chin.

Besides, Degale just got mugged by a guy Froch bounced off the canvas with 18oz gloves and a head guard on.

Kessler didn't need dodgy judges to beat Froch fair and square

Degale and Groves would both be stopped easily by Froch.

If anyone thought degale could beat a world champ if they had met today they must have been stupid. But do i think he could beat a world champion within a year -the answer would be yes. A lack of world class sparring partners and poor tactics caused this loss. If booth had been training degale he would have won.

Groves looked world class and degale looked like he had world class talent but had no understanding of how to fight that fight.
