i dont often bet but if i did put my hand out to shake on it i would pay up, even more so if i was the person who not only suggested the bet but gloated about it infront of the cameras, it may in some way start to repair the pr disaster that degale is in danger of becoming

As twattish as some of the antics of DeGales team were, you can't have it both ways. The bet was refused, it would be wrong when his man wins call for the money. That is having your cake and eating it.

Groves camp can't pull out of the bet beforehand and then want the money after they won!!
In fairness after the fight Booth said he can keep his money!

I think DeGale and his trainer should definitely retract some of their ridiculous comments about Booth being a glorified fitness first coach. He's coached a world heavyweight champion ffs, who gives a toss if he's never boxed 12 rounds.

They would go up in my estimation if they both ate a few words and put it down to pre fight hype.

hang remember the history here. haye in trouble for predicting 3rd round vs aud of course booth had to go the board...and good on him for having abit of a dig after all the crap they went through.

Not sure why they chose to revive a bet they had no intention of being part of pre-fight.

Funnily enough, over on ESB James Slater wrote an article and was saying that Jimmy Mac told journalists off the record that if Groves and Booth didn't pay up he'd see them in court. Don't know whether court action would have been enforseable or not, but that shows how serious he was about getting his bet money board or not. Wonder if he's paid Booth on the quiet then?

I don't think anyone (even if they are a giant tit) should have to go through months of training, hours of promotional stuff, and the hardest fight of their career for nothing.

The first thing Jimmy said after he offered the Bet was "write the cheaque out frank" it's all good when your betting with other peoples money!

Booth announced before the fight that the bet couldn't happen due to board rules, and then after the fight said they'd let De Gale off the bet. It was a dig, albeit a deserved dig. Neither would have paid up, neither should anyone pay up for a bet that was cancelled before it started.
