Who would win if Ray Mercer had fought Oliver McCall, both famed for their durability.

I took Mercer on points, but you never know if one of them is going to come in sleeping, or worse. Good fight.
If someone selects a stoppage on either side, please explain yourself.

Interesting, I always thought of Mercer as having a low workrate late on in fights.

Was McCall overly active? It's a tough fight to call, close decision either way.

Both were known to be inactive but McCall was a chronic sleepwalker in fights until he would suddenly realize he was WAY behind and try to KO his opponent in the last two rounds.
That wouldn't work vs Ray, who at least at his best could keep up a fair work-rate (at least until he gassed out, ha) and had that steel-hammer jab to rack up points with.

This is how I see it. Mercer had a very good jab. He would build a lead. McCall isn't likely to stop Mercer.

Gawd, I miss Ray Mercer.
When fat heavyweights could still fuckin' fight...

Whilst both could fight at a similar level Mercer did so far more consistently.
I think Mercer would have had a decent record in any era.

On there best days, these would be a great match, i'd go for Mercer UD, don't see any KO's happening, if had to pick anyone to touch the canva's at some stage i'd probably say Mercer again tbh, Ray's chin was made iron, but i think granite actually originated from McCall's chin!

Mercer by wide ud if he was on. Mercer at his best was so much better than a prime McCall but of course Mercer was bested by Ferguson and, even worse, fought to a draw vs. Marion Wilson. He would need to show up to beat McCall.

How about these two immovable objects?
I dug this up to get fresh opinions.
I think Mercer has the better offense.....so I'm puttin' my money on him.
I think this should be forced to go 15 rounds just because we know there's no KO in the cards.

Mercer should win but he wouldn't. He'd find a way to stuff this up.

I guessed a draw. I see so did others. Ibeaubuchi-Tua comes to mind.

Mercer wins a decision... But McCall is one of the few Heavyweights in History who could take him out with a perfect shot.
