Any boxing commission that issues a license to fight for Roy Jones Jr. in the future will have completely ignored its obligations. One of the primary obligations of the boxing commission is to ensure that no one is allowed in the ring who is a danger to himself by being there. For his own good, Roy Jones should never be given another license. It shouldn't be allowed to happen but, no doubt, it will.

Roy Jones was the P4P king for years and fought with heart and skill to dominate his competition. Those days are over. They've been over for at least 6-7 years. At this point, he risks his health and life every time he steps into the ring.

Yes, boxing is a brutal sport and every fighter takes a certain amount of risk to both health and life when he agrees to box. However, there is a difference between reasonable and unreasonable risk. Roy Jones has crossed that line.

If you haven't watched the knockout administered to Jones by Lebedev, you are probably better off. Jones wasn't just knocked out, he was knocked unconscious. It took a significant amount of time before his corner was even able to get him up on a stool, let alone standing again.

Even after the horrific loss to Lebedev, which wasn't a fluke as Jones is 5-7 in his last 12 fights and has been knocked out four times in that span, Jones is apparently considering continuing to fight. He shouldn't be allowed to make that choice.

Roy Jones' skills have deteriorated to the point that he can no longer effectively protect himself throughout a 10-round fight. It doesn't matter that he made it to the 10th round—what matters is what happened in that 10th round.

Jones was a scintillating champion but if he is allowed to continue to fight, he is going to end up a cautionary tale. If Jones refuses to see reality himself, it is incumbent on every boxing commission to refuse to allow Jones to continue on a course that could end up with him permanently injured or dead.

Agreed, my alltime favourite fighter, so sad to see whats happening to him, and I fear for the worst as he gets older, especially if he carries on.

ive not seen it , out of interest how was the fight panning out before the knockout ? was jones looking well down on points ?

His loss to Lebedev was one of the saddest sights I've seen in boxing.

If you can remember what Jones Jr was like back in the 90s & early 00s & to see how far he has fallen is a sight to chill you to your bones.

I never thought that I'd ever see him that far gone.

I was always under the misguided notion that he was the type of fighter that wouldn't go on too long.

I don't know why I thought that; might be something to do with the fact that he didn't take that many risks in his prime maybe.

Something needs to be done about Jones Jr, because he is now a danger to himself.

What is worrying is that none of the individual shots he took that knocked him out were even that big. It's worrying just how badly his punch resistance has evaporated.

I really hope Jones quits. I doubt they will have the grounds to revoke his license, if he passes a medical, then how can they?

Damienhucker, fight was pretty one-sided in my view. Lebedev was landing regularly and with some heavy blows. RJJ had a few get through but looked shattered at 4 and the ko was always going to come. There was a thread on it, if you want to get a more varied view. KO was brutal

He just got beat up for the majority of it though, being generous i would give him maybe 2 rounds. It goes back to the arguement about what's worse for a fighter, a long drawn out beatdown or a brutal quick ko? Either way, RJJ got both in that fight

The last shot RJJ got hit with is riduculous. Ref shouldv stepped before lebedev got the chance to even think about throwing it.

Having seen him blow away the likes of world amateur champion & olympian Alexander Alexeev in a couple of rounds in explosive style... to pawing Jones every round, seemed to me like he was simply giving the fans a spectacle.

Given he said beforehand "Jones is my idol, i hope he does not get hurt in this fight" pretty much underlined it.

People also forget that before Calzaghe gave Jones a 50/50 split at MSG, he'd been in Germany two months beforehand ringside for the return fight of Marcus Beyer.

"Beyer is a wonderful fighter. It would be great to give the people of Germany a Roy Jones vs Marcus Beyer fight."

He is whoring himself to any 3rd rate foreign promoter he can for a cheque. And for that reason he needs to be signed off from boxing.

He has even gone to a doctor to reverse the punchy effects on his brain. In an effort to continue his career.

I had to read that twice, because I was sure I read "raping". Imagine if Roy had gone from an amazing fighter to a rapist to make in a living in 10 years.

His knockouts have been bad - Tarver, Johnson, Green, Lebedev – they are all bad KO’s and he was getting beaten up by Calzaghe and Hopkins. Time to go Roy. Such a sad end to his career.

Agree with all of the above, he was in Blackpool last year and to listen to him talk, it's almost like he doesn't see it himself, he was even talking about going back up to heavyweight for a possilbe fight with Haye. Could you just imagine what would happen if Haye hits him in the temple with one of his bombs, jeez it doesn't bare thinking about. Very sad to see what has happened to him, he's my 2nd all time fav, iv been to watch him fight twice when he was at his peak, and imo he's the most talented fighter to ever grace a boxing ring, and i don't believe anyone would of beat him on his best night. Makes me sick to the pit of my stomach to see what's happened to him.
