I thought boxing had sum corruption in it. To me this was clear in the Dallas fight, Promoters ref giving the fight to the promoters fighter. Then this ref fails to notice 2 knockdowns from hopkins to try to ensure house fighter wins. BUT then when I think all of boxing is a corrupt load of shit and more like WWE wrestling, Groves gets a descision which I thought Warren would never have allowed, I think there is hope in our sport!

In fairness to IJL, BHop admitted that Pascal slipped both times in the post fight presser.

The replays showed that Pascal went to the canvas immediatly after Hopkins hit him with a punch. According to the rules I believe those should have been ruled knockdowns regardless of what Bhop said. If the fight ended up being a draw again I'm sure Hopkins would have had a different opinion.

You know fight rules. The punch has to cause the knockdown, not facilitate it when the other fighter is already off balance. Both of the calls were correct under the rules.

In round ten Pascal was clearly balanced until Hopkins right him with a right hand. It was only after the punch landed that his balance went. In round eight Pascal would not have touched down if Hopkins hadn't landed a right hand.

We must have a different understanding of the rules. Under all of the sets of rules I have read a knockdown is to be called in the cases where a punch connects with a fighter and causes that fighter to touch down in some way. This means that if a fighter would not have gone down without getting hit it should be ruled a knockdown regardless of how balanced they were. Plenty of fighters get dropped largely due to being off balance; this is commonly referred to as a "balance shot" and most refs will start a count.

My paper had interview with Ian today and he said that he didn't call the knockdowns as he felt Pascal was off-balance and he said the canvas was quite slippery and it was more to do with that than Hopkins' punches that caused Pascal to go down. He said he'd looked at re-runs of the fight and feels he made the right decision.

Seriously pisses me off to hear refs such as Ian lated as bent.

i have no doubt he is straight as a die and makes decisions there and then in best of faith.

I have seen Lewis ref a few world level fights now (Aydin-Dan, Briggs-Klitschko, Hopkins-Pascal) and I thought he did a poor job in all of them. I have also seen him turn in several atrocious scorecards. I'm not saying that Lewis is corrupt, but I do think that he is a poor official, regardless of whether his decisions are made in the best of faith.

I dont think he was that bad in JP bs BH II.

Naturally the Dallas situ was awful, cant defend you on that one Ian.

The Ainscough scorecard that IJL did the other month...****ing joke. He should have been dragged over the coals for that.
