i know all of the contreversy in the first fight
b-s stoppage just after the doo koo kym tragedy
but lets talk about the rematch
it is shown in full on you tube
i scored it 144-141 weaver
anyone else score this fight
weaver was kept down by king and dokes was suppose to be
our next great heavyweight.
any thoughts on this fight and the lack of a 3rd bout even after all the
contreversy

why was there no rematch?
i can not figure this out.
only thing i can see is king trying to save
what he thought was his future meal ticket in dokes.

Thats a bizarre period in the history of the Don King WBA champions...everyone of them won it and then gave it away for all sort of reasons.....mainly issues with King.
As to who wasted the best talent? you decide -- Dokes, Page, Tubbs, Thomas, Witherspoon ?

Dokes lost his next defense. I'm surprised they didn't stage a Weaver/Coetzee rematch. That fight was an absolute war. These guys never got to a consistent point where the third fight would have made sense/cents.
I remember seeing Weaver challenge Holmes on Closed Circuit TV and even though I was cheering for Larry I always liked Mike afterwards because of the great effort he gave.
As for the rematch, I had the same card as Meisinger, 144-141

I think there was no 3rd fight because the second was not of a quality that would have fans demanding another fight.
There was probably more money and HBO interest in matching Dokes with white puncher Coetzee than with Weaver again.
