Disgraceful.... Watson did everything right, focussed on the body for 5 rounds before coming up to the head and schooling Eubank with timed counters, the body punches caught up with Eubank in the last 3 rounds as Watson's neat combos came off, it was the perfect fight from Watson to deal with the highly awkward speedster he had across him... he edged forward without being caught and got closer and closer to Chris, never off balance as Eubanks was constantly...

Laughable. I had Eubank winning by six rounds. He clearly won the first five rounds, clearly won the seventh and clearly won the ninth. Watson landed nothing of note in 10 and 11, despite Eubank being there for the taking because his legs had gone and given out on him. I gave them to Eubank because he actually landed shots, albeit off-balance ones. Watson just plodded forward all night - he did not deserve a rematch and only got one because of the public outcry. The difference in footwork was substantial, just watch the first five rounds with no sound and watch the feet only - I dare you! Eubank showed far superior subtle skill in this fight. Just watch the seventh round with no sound and count the number of punches Eubank makes Watson miss - by barely moving! And some of the short shots Eubank was getting off in this fight were sensational, in about the fourth, fifth and ninth rounds; rocking the strong Watson. You need your head tested if you feel Watson deserved this decision, let alone that it was some kind of scandal????

I'd need to watch it again but I thought the point of the rematch was how hurt he was and close to exhaustion?

nor me....as clear as day imo.

I did score this a while ago, can't remember precisely what my scores were but I did have Eubank winning by at least a couple of points.

Its always hard to revisit a close fight, when you know who won. Its hard not to be biased to one boxer

You clearly have no idea how to score a boxing match my friend...

Every punch Watson landed was clean, hard, accurate, timed and thrown correct... most punches Eubank landed were not clean, not hard and not accurate they just suprised Watson through the poor technique employed....

He out landed Chris with body shots alone in the first 5, then took him to school for the rest of the fight with timing and counters... If you take the Eubank goggles off you'll see that for 5 missed punches Eubank winged Watson landed a clean, hard, accurate, timed and correct blow to the body or head... he also out worked Eubank when no punches were thrown/landed by continuing to double the left at him and rolling his shoulders constantly...

Every boxing pundit, every boxing columnist had Watson a clear winner by 4-5pts -are they all wrong? Many gave Watson r2 and r4 and Eubank r11 and EVERYONE gave Watson 3,6,7,8,10

Guys, hello??? The Challenger has to take it from the Champion. That's how it works. This wasn't a non-title 12-rounder. Eubank was the champ, and Watson, if he wanted the title so badly, should've atleast attempted to take it. He didn't. He used plodding footwork, a poker face, no emotion or passion in his work, no adrenalin. There is absolutely no-fuckin-way that Michael deserved that belt after a performance like that. Eubank was even there for the taking in the 10th (admitted by Eubank himself), after his legs had clearly gone with exhaustion, and Watson just didn't take him - didn't attempt to. Eubank was the boss (esp first five, bagged clearly) and had no multi-punch combinations to contend with, forced Watson back whenever he chose to right through even when he was gone at the end. I pity your bias, it's not even subjective it's clouded crap - even 20 years on. I pity you.

Your words are convincing, but thats all they are...words.

The actions of the fight on tv or vid footage is what counts, and 99% of us had Watson clear victor via wide chunk of pts... It speaks for itself.

I thought Eubank got many favourable decisions during his career, but don't think this was one of them.

Watson was mostly landing short and out of range, but it looked good from the back of the arena.

Talking of robbery's Joe Bugner is still walking around a free man, it's about time Scotland Yard got on the case.

thats not how it works.

If a fighter fights best in a round, he gets that round. Simple. Nothing to do with who is the current champion etc.
