Ali a Shah-fire Title Contender
By Andrew Wake:
Blackburn’s unbeaten welterweight prospect Ali Shah is waiting by the phone. The 24-year-old has been inactive for more than a year due to managerial issues but is now ready to take the domestic scene by storm, provided he’s given the opportunity.
And he’s hoping that some day soon a nice man from
Matchroom Sport will give him a ring and offer him a spot in next Tuesday’s
Prizefighter tournament at York Hall, Bethnal Green.
At present the line up is already in place for
Eddie and Barry Hearn’s popular knockout tournament, but Shah understands that he’ll be first in line should anyone be forced to pull out.
If he does get the chance, it could see him come to face to with someone he once considered an ally. Junior Witter is in the competition and Shah enjoyed many hours of sparring with the former world champion when he was based the famous St Thomas’ Boys & Girls club in Wincobank, Sheffield.
“I sparred with Junior Witter when he was at his best. When he fought Vivian Harris I was chief sparring partner so I know what he’s all about and I know what his weaknesses are,” said Shah, 5 – 0 (2 KOs).
“The way to beat Junior is to mess about with his reflexes. He relies on his them too much. He dips and bends back too much so if I fake punches, he’ll be open and I can land my shots.”
Stepping into Prizefigher might seem like an ambitious step for a man who has not fought since stopping Andrew Patterson in two rounds 13 months ago. But Ali is fighter who could never be accused of lacking confidence.
“I feel I could do ten or twelve rounds with any welterweight in the country right now,” he stated. “I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging or being boisterous kid but I’m confident that I’m ready for anyone, including the ones that are being tipped for world titles.
“I don’t go out to be gun-shy, I get in the ring to land bombs and put kids to sleep fast so I’m not bothered who I fight. I’m ready for anyone.
“When I’m active and I’m getting the dates people will see what I can do to opponents and they’ll start taking more notice.
“I’ve seen what I’m capable of doing and I’ve only show bits of it against the level of opposition I’ve been in with, but when I get good profile fights I’ll be really switched on.”
Shah’s career has been a slow burner to say the least. The likable southpaw turned pro in April 2008 with a points win over Amir Nadi but has only had four more paid outings since.
In the beginning everything looked rosy and legendary trainer Brendan Ingle was tipping the Lancastrian to be a future world champion before a fall out with his management left Shah in the wilderness.
And now he’s hooked up with a new trainer in Accrington-based Jason Curtis and inked a managerial deal with Steve Wood, he seems set to get his career back on track.
“
Some people say to me I should have done this and done that by now but they don’t realise the politics of boxing,” Shah explained. “Someone said to me ‘you can be the best fighter in the world but if you don’t have good management, you’ll never achieve anything’ and it’s true. Until I got with Steve I didn’t have a good manager.
“I’ve got everything in place now. I’ve got good people around me and I’ve got a good sponsor in Rehman Property Consultancy. Jason, for me, is the best trainer there is. People say he hasn’t got the experience but he’s got the biggest heart and he’s not looking to just make money out of fighters. We have a good bond and relationship.
“I just want to be active now. If things had have gone how they should have I’d be a champion today. I’m still young though at 24 and I know I’ll be British, Commonwealth, European and world champion in a few different weight divisions.”
If he gets his wishes his first title challenge could come against former stablemate turned bitter enemy Adnan Amar. The reigning English welterweight champion has been ordered to defend his crown against John O’Donnell but Shah hopes to get a shot in the not so distant future.
He said: “That’s the one fight I’d love. Adnan Amar has pulled out of so many fights I don’t how he’s still got that title. He needs to defend it. He needs to fight me for it and I’ll put him to sleep.”

Is that Andrew?? yh it is a excellent piece thanks once again... Apparently on the forums i read people tend to pull out against Adnan amar because he's a threat but he has someone who has his number and like u heard in Ali's voice how he would love this fight... two ingle fighters amar has a disliking to Ali and vice versa only factor being Ali schooled adnan amar when he was at st thomas gym in sheffield and if adnan is up for it then make the fight happen but i would guess that dominic ingle who let these 2 spar knows its a lose situation for Adnan.. might aswell strip him and let john o donnell and chris johnson fight for it atleast these guys are hungry...
And the Prizefighter would be a great oppurtunity... get the chance to go in with former stablemate sparring partner junior and would be in with a good chance with any in that line up... my opinion obviously him beating all in the line up

Adnan might have pulled out of a couple of fights but he is very skilled and dangerous fighter. if he ever gets the breaks he can win titles.
I have to say, some of Ali's stuff in here is pure fantasy. Junior Witter's chief sparring partner? No.
Adnan is still a long, long way ahead of Ali and i have to say that that is an easy night's work. Ali has plenty of talent though but he needs to walk before he can run.
Good luck to the chap though - he is certainly a character!

hi dan im not denying adnan can fight he obviously can to win a english title but do i think he is that good to say he will go onto win world titles no domestic title possibly yes.. and he may think the same about Ali theres alot more too why theres dislike with each other which alot of people like reporters do not know about thats gone on in that gym like someone not knowing how to control they anger and putting someone out of action by assulting them behind the persons back and landing a knee to the back and damaging him we still have medical records of him attending hospital in sheffield... did someone do anything about this in the gym or kick this person out for such actions no what happens in the ring stays in the ring dont take your anger out afterwards... but thats that you obviously dont get told things like that dan...
as far as Ali being chief sparring partner to junior witter leading up to all his fights Ali was used as his sparring partner chief sparring partner in his head maybe because he got used for sparring definitley alot.. but did he ever get mentioned obviously not were u there too see it obviously not junior had many sparring partners if Ali thinks its chief in his mind he was because he did get sparring for all fights since demarcus corley to devon alexander do u know what happened leading up to the devon fight in sparring obviously not .. look at juniors pictures you might understand what im getting at.. will u get told obviously about some novice i dont think so... Ali was more mentored and trained and helped by brendan no1 else helped Ali whilst he was there and Ali till this day wishes brendan was younger and had him as his trainer and mentor and manager because the problems don't lie with brendan ingle hes done all the good in the world for Ali..
Again you are right Ali is a long way from Adnan but that's where Steve woods comes in a manager who does good for his fighters is it easy nights work really based on what you've seen of adnan amar and none of Ali well i do hope we can change your mind some day if it comes off because you're forgetting Ali has schooled adnan in the gym and ali has no problem performing in crowds in front off ppl.. you have to remember Ali started boxing at mid 18 and never boxed before in his life where the same doesn't go for adnan... And if he wants to deny that then we know that there are ppl in there that have seen first hand ringside the loyalties lie there and i wont mention names but that doesnt matter adnan keep doing what hes doing and ali will do the same if it comes of great if not that's fine adnan im sure will be way ahead by the time.. so good luck..
i understand where u are coming from but you've only seen bits and told bits.. u aint going to get told half the things a novice has done in that gym all behind closed doors time its done in the ring i agree put in practise talk the talk and walk the walk let him get given the chance..respect your opinion you only read it how u see it... and in a sense if i wasn't his brother and only heard and seen a few things id see him as brash very confident with crazy fantasy tales but i know what he has been through an i know not lies because ive been told by people in the gym..who ali was really close too but they also have loyalties to who manages and train them.. but obviously they have no reason to lie about what they have seen...
thanks anyway dan maybe u can ask him directly any questions u have and he will answer them for you if u want to know what his side is... via phone or face to face...

I've seen Ali spar many times and without question he's got talent. If he ever gets his act together he could do something and i wish him well as i found him to be a character and a good laugh at times. He does, though, need to slow down a bit because, as you know, he upset a lot of people at Wincobank with his attitude. You talk about things behind closed doors and then you mention a lot of things that if they did take place should have been kept behind closed doors. I think you've contradicted yourself a bit there.
I just think that Ali needs to get active and keep winning fights before making claims about being a future multiple world title winner.
In terms of the Vivian Harris fight Junior actually did most of his sparring with Mark Thompson, as you may recall. I know Junior has sparred Ali but do you think that Junior viewed that sparring with the same intensity as Ali did? Of course not - Junior isn't in the business of smashing up novices.

im talking about him getting assaulted in his own gym mr foster and no1 doing anything about it asking him to just let it go and forget it didn't happen.. things like that he has kept behind closed doors because of his loyalty to no one but brendan u don't see everything im his brother i seen him in a hospital you didnt see him in a hospital with a damaged back he has all the respect for Brendan because respect is due when its mutual and given but i cant sit here and u say hes living in a fantasy to you and in your eyes maybe...
why should he not make claims that he feels he can achieve them goals if given the opportunity has he been given them no.. should he not be outspoken and make bold claims why not brendan ingle was talking about a amature naseem hamed making 40 million and winning world titles one day did he sound crazy to some yes well same applies for Ali to you it may seem like a bad attitude that's what i called ambitious and self belief... and he will talk the talk that's his character as you already say you know him and you can watch him walk the walk and its down to him from that point i know hes capable of doing and so does he most importantly...
i like junior witter more of a fan id say but i know when ali first started how when he sparred with alot like john buster keaton and alot of the other young lads like the first day he came with barry awad he out classed someone who was being mentored and trained by some of the best in the world and ali was a complete novice and from that day forward Brendan wanted him to stay in sheffield... and ali is a character in and out of the ring and you say junior is not in the business of smashing up novices im guessing u were not there the first time Ali ever sparred with junior and ali was not even boxing amature at this point.. and the intensity from junior was more than what he start off in his fights junior has watched Ali since the day he walked in from the first month and has watched ALI mess and play with some of the pros and definitely was not gonna allow a novice do the same infront of his stablemates and believe me came out to take his head OFF he's in the business of putting people in their place Hes the TOP GUY in the gym he aint gonna let a novice do the same to him embarrass him... try and deny that claim but we know its true Ali wont meet junior obviously so sharing this we shouldn't but if u gonna make a claim i dont feel is true i wont let it by that easy..
you've been in that gym you know what the competitive nature off everyone in there is and how they swear and make racial comments as a joke obviously.. and dishearten some of the young ones ive seen it with my two eyes junior aint in a business of being kind he makes them aware that hes the top dog talking to them in sparring and making them look silly so u cant fool me by saying he aint in the business because hes in a tough one and he cant have novices making him look bad so yh you believe what you will... i respect junior as a fighter hes a FORMER WORLD WBC CHAMPION how can i not but i tell it how it is... not how people want to hear and i hope certain people one day come forward and tell you these about these fantasy claims because it not fair u try portraying him as a liar let Ali get there if adnan aint challenging for world titles or if junior still around all respect to junior but you will watch him talk the talk and walk the walk with any of them... and if there is a pull out then barry and eddie hearn from matchroom want to stick ali in there he can prove it but thats highly unlikely..

Mate you've said a lot in there and made some serious allegations. I'll talk to Dominic and get his side then come back to you.
One point, though - i am not saying he is a liar, i did not say that at all. I meant he is in a fantasy world about winning world titles etc - he's only had five fights and he's been pro for ages! i have nevere heard about this alleged assault. You can't expect to say something like that and not get the other side put in public domain as well.

i dont mind if its in a public domain facts are facts have i just created this fairytale story of an assult and him going hospital.. i dont think so its quite clear youre gonna get dominic saying its a fantasy aswell would he really say he knew that took place and not do anything to the person who did it...? i very much doubt that.. forget Ali as a talent hes been through alot there.. if it was brendans way in there he would be there right now..

OK well i have now spoken to John Ingle and he says that these allegations are absolute rubbish. John's word is good enough for me.
The picture i get of Ali's time at Wincobank, both from my own very clear recollections and from speaking to others, is that he was a lad of some ability who put other people's backs up with his incessant claims to greatness and generally disrespectful personality. I also hear that he got well and truly put in his place IN THE RING on a number of occasions.
As for Ali's 'break' from pro boxing - is there any more to it than boxing politics? Did he go away anywhere? From what I hear Ali's only link to boxing politics was his membership of the Monster Raving Loony party.
I dont propose to waste any more time going over this subject. I've already said that i wish Ali well for the future and that still stands - all the best to Ali and Steve Wood, i hope it all works out well .

No-one doing anything about an alleged assault ?
What did the South Yorkshire Police make of these claims ?
Or did he just get his brother to post on the internet a couple of years after ?
Good luck to whoever is training Shah nowadays.

well you words don't really mean and nor does john ingles because the truth is the truth i have no respect for people who lie if ali got stood on his head he got stood on his head tell john ingle if hes confident enough to put adnan amar in the ring when it makes sense with Ali then he better do it and Ali will show you what he will do to adnan amar and if john ingle is your source for truth then all the best to getting a honest answer you obviously dont care for the truth... we brothers seen the injuries and mother seen how his back was swelled up this was not a little injury... to you its bullsht...how would u feel if that was your son or brother? i have no respect for people like u who dont care for the truth u have a relationship with john ingle thats fair enough Ali is a honest person if u believe john thats fine i seen them injurys this is another baseless lie with no backing then you're very very wrong..
i thought you had some decency but it just shows u go off hearsay and people who want to hide certain truths otherwise it looks bad which it is VERY BAD.. And ive had people that were there and brendan on the phone when ali discussed what happened... so yh carry on danfoster making out Ali to be the a liar because john ingle calls it nonsense. anyone who knows Ali properly knows he is sincere and genuine and the only thing that he didn't want to do was leave the gym because of his relationship with brendan... john and dominic made it difficult for him to communicate with them..
fair reporting??? you wish him all the best..with that comment about his time off partying where did he get this money to spend on partying being a full time boxer... you wish to make him look like a twat but any1 who has some sense knows family's dont go around creating storys out of nowhere about getting assaulted... if u heard it out of adnan amars mouth u still would come on here and post its a load of rubbish... thanks we know when some one is sincere and genuine john ingle isnt dominic isnt BRENDAN INGLE IS the only sincere and genuine person aswell as johnny nelson and a two friends ali had at the gym who are pros there.. i have so much to say because its frustrating that you try an make him out to be a liar Ali will Take that fight any day of the week is adnan amar some superstar that it cant be made he will have a few more fights and then why doesn't the the professional and the so called novice get it on...
yh and steve woods and Ali i wish well for the future you on the other hand dont wish him well because u would turn a blind eye if u were there aswell and seen it keep your ties with john... you cover his fighters ryt and many others but there are reporters out there who dont base desicions on john ingles word like his words are gospel...

yes because he was still training there and they did not want ali to take it to the police as adnan is thier fighter aswell and it looks bad on the gym.. thats the question to that :)
What did the South Yorkshire Police make of these claims ?
the south yorkshire police were not informed because of Ali thinking he was being loyal and did not want to jepordise his career as john and dominic ingle run the gym not BRENDAN INGLE...and being told not to take it further..

NO mate he has not asked me to post ive posted myself he does not live at home he lives with his older brother and trains in Accrington lancashire i do see him and i have told him about this thread...he does not have an account and i will show him when i see him

2) Give it a rest, you are beginning to sound like an even bigger fruitcake than Ali. Just let Ali have some fights and see what happens
3) you're not friends with Jon Saxon are you?

Oh ok I thought you were someone who's opinion mattered you've obviously got no class I've asked Ali if he knows you and he doesnt even know you he said you're probably another one of John and dominics ass lick.. And any reporter writes how they see it and if u don't know ali font chat your crap any1 that talks to him knows he's a nice guy like making people laugh and is a entertainer aswell as a talent.. We know you are biased because you are a guy who thinks he knows everything when u don't.. Ali told me when Mark Thompson came to spar junior open sparring junior had to put his head guard back on cuz Mark was catching too much.. When ali and Mark sparred no head guard it was good sparring.. And why don't u ask Mark when he's back out about what he thinks of ali said how good he is Ali helped Mark in preperation to kevin McIntyre fight at olivers gym why don't You ask him what he thinks his cuz your opinion don't mean much and Mark wanted ali to help with adnan fight but guess who pulled out.. Lol when he does i hope he fights Mark and ali will show him how to beat adnan and put him to sleep and then ali can put him to bed once and for all..oh tell him to fight chris johnson get him to put him to sleep aswell should be fun chris will will expose your ass lick never mind Ali..
Adnan amar vs Chris Johnson!!!
Result pull out!!! Lol
Maybe he might man up and fight him..

Ali should get a couple of quick wins under his belt and then I'm sure Steve Wood could tempt Adnan...Mr Amar is another who needs to be far more active.

Steve Wood posts on here I think or VIP Promotions does and I am sure if Steve Wood wanted to make the fight between Chris Johnson and Adnan Amar for the English Title it wouldn't be a problem.John Ingle and Steve Wood have worked together for years.
As for you my friend making claims that your brother Ali cant back up is making you look as foolish as him.Eddie Hearn has the number 1 British Welterweight signed up ,Kell Brook,I DOUBT he would be interested in a five fight novice who cant back up his claims.
I can imagine the conversation now
ring ring ,ring ring ,ring ring.
Matchroom Sport: "Hello Matchroom Sport"
Ali Shah: "Ahright luv can I speak to Eddie?"
Matchroom Sport: "Eddie..........? Do you mean Mr Eddie Hearn?"
Ali Shah: "Yes luv, Eddie"
Matchroom Sport: "Who is calling please?"
Ali Shah: "Ali"
Matchroom Sport: "Ali............? ,umm.........Ali who??????"
Ali Shah: "Ali Shah luv"
Matchroom Sport :"Ali Shahluv?"
Ali Shah:"Yes"
Matchroom Sport: "Mr Hearn someone on the phone for called Ali Shahluv"
Eddie Hearn(In the background) "Ali Shahluv! never heard of him"
Matchroom Sport :"He called last week when you were away, about the prizefighter,he said he was chief sparring partner for Junior Witter,Kell Brook and Adnan Amar.
Matchroom Sport: "Ali can you hold please"
Ali Shah: "You know what it is right"
Matchroom Sport :"Sorry you have been placed on hold"
Kell Brook :"Eddie"
Eddie Hearn:"Do you no a fighter called Ali Shahluv?"
Kell Brook: "Ha ha ha you mean Ali Shah"
Eddie Hearn :"Any good"
Kell "Nah ,crap everyone in the gym beats him up"
Eddie Hearn: "Cheers Kell"
Matchroom Sport "Hi Ali,Eddie isn't in the office right now but you might want to call this number 01254 681 243 they should be able to help you, thanks"

Never realised that it would cause this much argument when I did the article with Ali. Top lad though despite what people on here seem to think. Ali is a fighter and who can blame him for wanting to get back out there and make a name for himself?

i havent said he isn't a nice lad, someone (the person that posts on his behald) is just unbelievably sensitive and quick to make serious allegations (violence, dishonesty) on a public forum.
how many times did i put in this thread that i wish him well and no-one has any problem with him other than when he makes accusations of a criminal nature that are entirely denied.

You don't have to name names but can you tell us how your brother was assaulted in the gym?

Yup everyone in the gym beats him up.. Lol keep dreaming mate.. Can't believe you wrote out a play southpaw.. You must have a wild imagination.. The claim I made stands firm that yes Ali did get assaulted in the gym not in the ring outside the ring by a coward.. Who can't accept getting beat in sparring..was he in hospital yes we took him to Sheffield hospital no1 it's not a hobby to make claims of a assult.. Like I said we know youre friends with the ingles anyone who was neutral would think why on earth make a claim of an assault if there is not any truth to it or maybe I like making stories up on ali shahs behalf no I seen the injuries and also Brendan talking to him about the incident on the phone.. Is it just because ali and adnan are competitive and think they are better than the other it's alot more than just that.. You have the right to form your own opinion about ali and his lies and him getting beat up by everyone like I said we know the truth if people wanna know then they can hear it but if they can't swallow it then you can make your daft comments.. I'm not fussed sensitive yh ofcourse because he is my brother and I won't stand for anyone calling him a liar when it's not true.. Chief sparring partner proably not the title when he was being used as a sparring partner but surly dis spar in all of juniors fights leading up to demarcus and vivian Harris and devon Alexander.. No he wasn't chief sparring partner if ali said that to him being used alot for sparring to him is what he calls chief.. Like I said look at juniors fight leading up to his fight with Devon the pics ask him how sparring went..!
Good luck to kell brook and good luck to junior they are fighters!!
Adnan amar I wish him no luck I hope chris Johnson or whoever fights him knocks 10 bells out of him..
