Does Maloney warrant a sky place

Sky have four main promoters (matchroom, Warren, Hattons and Maloney) looking through Maloney's stable there isnt many fighters who warrant a headline fight on sky if im honest. Stuart Hall, Jamie McDonell, Gary Sykes and David Price are the only possibilities really. Say Price looses to McDermott and one of McDonell or Hall is going to loose their fight. That gives Maloney a very samll number of attractable fights on offer. Im not saying he should be taken off sky completely, but maybe cut the amount of shows he getes given. If it was me i would much rather see Hennessey's fighters in action. Fury, Daws, McIntosh, O'Donnell, Witter, Theopane. So if it was me i would give Hennessey some of Maloney's slots as their is a lot more public interest in Fury than Stuart Hall and when Chisora vs Fury isn't on sky and McDonnell vs Otieno is then that shouldn't be the case.

He has Jason Booth and Tony Jeffries as well. however i agree whole heartedly with what your saying. Maybe Maloney should get 3-4 4 shows a year where he can get all his fighters out on that card, or he could merge with hennessey

No he is not. Had options after the Daws fight. When Fury loses who has Hennessy got!

Great post Camcas. I don't think Maloney warrants his place on Sky!

If FW is to get 2 or 3 PPV slots a year that should come off his quota and some of the smaller promoters should get a bash.

Whats with the Maloney bashing lately?
Is it because he comes on here and gives an honest opinion, and is this just to see if you can wind him up?

I think Maloney has done good shows this season. Mcdonnell v Jamoye, Booth v Arthur, Simpson V Smith 2. Simpson v Lindsay too name a few. People were critical of his Price matchmaking.

Mcintosh is not with Hennessey too. Fury was on sky thanks to Frank wining the purse bids with Mcdermott.

If Maloney goes under, he'll take half of the Latvian economy down too.
But let's be honest, he had the likes of Rendall Munroe, Carl Johannesson, Fireball Fukes, a couple of Olympians coming through and plenty of other decent operators fleshing out decent Friday Fight Night fodder.
But the stable is rather thin on the ground lately, and speaking honestly, I have to admit some of the recent fights on a Saturday that are put out by Sky are absolutely sh*t and of little value nor excitement to anyone.
I consider myself as hardcore a boxing fan as they come, but have switched over during some bouts cos they're tedious 12-rounds of 8-2 flyweights fighting for a commonwealth belt against someone from Africa.
This is not just a punt at Maloney, cos I like the man immensley - but it's a sign of the times and a sign of the crap money Sky give these promoters to put a fight card together.
You give someone a shoestring , they'll hardly gonna give you a bonanza of super-fights are they ?
If you shoot Maloney down, then you really have to shoot Sky too.

Simpson v Smth 2 was a Maloney show one of best fights on sky. Webb v Prince Arron another in recent weeks.

Sky should make promoters merge for Saturday Fight Nights. Why should one hog the night?

Matchroom and Maloney have worked together this year on shows.

Sky should be able to find spots for all of boxing, not just particular promoters or boxers for that matter. We pay enough in subscriptions as it is! Let's not get started about PVP again though...

Could Sky not become the promoter and give us the fights we want? Think UFC on a UK scale?

Maloney blows hot and cold with his shows sometimes they can be great e.g webb v arron but the mcdonnel bill was poor so it depends but Henneshy should have a contract with sky

Mcdonnell bill was not poor. Wright v smedley fight was ok each to there own. I was at groves v degale and that bill was shite! So many mismatches only one half decent fight!
