Shumenov calls out Cleverly

According the the BBC, Shumenov wants to fight Cleverly in the US.

Great chance for Cleverly to add another world title against possibly the weakest world champion at his weight. It also gives him the chance to make more of a name for himself in America so if he wins, set up some bigger fights.

I think Cleverly should have a few fights in Wales before moving to the US

I dont think Clev is that patient though, i think he wants to fight the best straight away. I dont think he wants 3 poor defences like Ricky Burns has had/having

His next fight will be against Bellew I reckon. They would have built up a fair bit of interest after that press conference and Warren won't wanna be sending him over to the states already. They owe the fans who travelled to London for the last fight even if it wasn't their fault

Cleverly v Bellew, in Cardiff, live on SBO. Pay up bitches!!

Yes but i believe he needs to build a bigger fan base first, if he can get the guys to come to Wales or England then great, but i doubt he will be able to. I want to see Bellew next though

It'll be criminal if he doesnt fight Bellew next. I'd say he would beat Shumenov who appears tae be very overrated.

Burns is readying himself i think. he needs to improve a bit before aiming for bigger heights, and i think he knows that. i reckon his next fight could be a unification bout

at least shumenov has faced top 10 opposition, albeit with mixed results (the 2 with campillo, one narrow defeat and one robbery win; then the domination of campillo-conqueror in america...)

both shumenov and cleverly appear to have the willing and the aggressive styles to produce something interesting.

let's face it, clev's last fight: that was no world title fight.

Agree completely with this, i think it would be a great fight with alot to gain from it. Cleverly gains nothing from fighting Bellew other than shutting him up.
I like Bellew as a fighter but he's not ready for this yet

The general opinion of Shumenov doesn't appear to be very high, at least on this forum, but it's not like his opposition has been much different than Clev's. Also, Bellew is a domestic level fighter at this point (way below Shumenov), and imo it would be criminal if Clev dropped back down to that level, espcially given the nature of his "world title" fight.

I think Clev should take the fight. Shumenov is very beatable and if Clev pulls it off he could hold two belts in 2 deafeats. If worst came to worst and he got beat he could always box the Bomber for British and Comenwealth belts.

I think he'd earn a lot more money if he fought Bellew over here.

There's plenty of time for him to unify.

In an ideal world, Shemenov would be Cleverlys next fight, but i think warren will take clev down the burns route and fight domestic level opposition like Bellew.

This fight would make a lot of sense. I think Shumenov is underrated by some, but it's definitely a fight that Cleverly can win. I think he will probably fight Bellew next though. After that, if he still has the belt, then a Shumenov fight in the US would be a logical next step.

He'll get the Burns treatment for a long while yet.

His promoter will want that welsh cash for a bit now.

"We'll put you in easy defences in Wales, make you a really big name there and some money, before we have to take risks for a while".

Makes sense, but boring as hell for real fans.

Shumenov did everything to avoid a third fight with Campillo, so much so that Campillo is now going down the IBF route and has a number 2 ranking now.

If the chance comes to fight Shumenov then he should take it now. He is by far hte weakest champion and this will add a lot to Cleverly's rep just by having the other belt and winning it properly in the ring. Let the fight with Bomber build up for a year or so and then Bomber has a little bit more time to work on stuff, thats what I say anyway.

Beatable..but beatable by freaking NATHAN CLEVERLEY??

You guys are on crack. Cleverley loses to the first guy with a pulse he goes in against.

if he fights bellew it's good for the UK fans but underlines that the WBO in many cases is just a british "world title".

cleverly v shumenov would be a thrilling tear-up. otherwise light heavy is boring (hopkins, erdei, dawson).

Amen to this - I'd hate to think of the money i've spent following Cleverly to Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and London to name a few places over the years! All well worth it though.

My opinion though is whilst Bellew may be lining up in the opposite corner in Clev's next fight, he has done nothing to deserve it. I would rather Cleverly fight a few genuinely ranked opponents before stepping up to 'World' level.

Realistically though, a few easyish defences are what FW will have in mind as he doen't really have much in the way of genuine world title prospects at the minute.
I hope it is not Bellew as he has done nothing to deserve a title shot, Shumerov is the fight that should be made.
