Just heard on 5live that he was caught carrying a large concealed kitchen knife and has just been sentenced.

He seems to have only the loosest of grips on sanity at times.

They ought to sentence him to fight Danny Williams. What did he get, do you know?

Fined a grand I believe.

Do former Heavyweight champs need to carry knives?

If so, then I should need a hand-held surface to air missile to be safe on the streets!

Hide should have his licence pulled for this. Especially in light of the Jeff Fenech maiming. The man's a disgrace to our sport.

Having his licenced pulled may be a bit strong, but an independant enquiry (with the possible punishment of a life ban).

deary me  will herbie ever grow up he's 32 now and he's still getting into trouble :x

and it now looks like a danny williams fight has fallen thru to what an unsatisfactory end to his re-emergence

the sad thing about it all is i think hide is capable of beating a lot of top 10-15 guys out there. hide's problem is that he can't fight the super heavyweights put him in with heavyweights of his size ad i reckon he'd do well.

A fork and a plate to go with it one would hope, to eat his prison food with....the guy is a total loon and should be locked up for the safety of himself and more importantly other people.

Latest on Hide: Former WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide is to be the subject of an investigation by the British Boxing Board of Control after being convicted of carrying a 10-inch knife. Hide appeared before Norwich magistrates and was fined £750 for being in possession of the blade which police found when they were called to an incident involving Hide and six men in a local nightspot. According to the Norfolk Times, Hide was attacked by the group whilst enjoying a night out with his partner Helen. It was also revealed that Hide spent two days in hospital after the brawl where he underwent a brain scan.

PS: The last statement doesn't make it clear if Hide had a brain scan because he was injured or to test his sanity.

Also from the same article....

“.....He was jumped on and knocked to the ground.

“At one point he appears to have lost consciousness. His recollection of exactly what occurred has been affected by the attack."

Sounds like a familiar feeling for Herbie....

Yeah, i know a similar story to that, there is a black fellow who wanders about round the university where i work. He has a speech impediment and is clearly brain damaged to some extent yet he is constantly adorning a can of some super strength lager. Apparently i am told he was a shit hot amateur boxer winning area awards left right and centre but he hit the bottle a bit too often and in a drunken rampage crashed his car into a tree and is now in the state he is in. I think he's only 29 or something, such a sad waste
