Really interesting thread although looking at things from a different angle it's interesting how many Boxing phrases that have entered the common english language and used everyday such as:

Might be an Welsh thing, and certainly a generational thing - but alot of my dads people of my dads generation who were small were nicknamed "bantam" - because they were built like a bantamweight.

I've always associated "no pain no gain" with boxing originally but it might not be.
