Haye v Klitschko: Flights and Hotel thread

Thought it would be quite interesting to have a thread to see where everyone who is going to the fight in Germany will be staying, who you are all flying with and plans for the weekend.

I'm going with the Mrs as none of my mates could afford it. We're flying out to Hannover and then getting the train up to Hamburg on the Friday morning from Heathrow and staying at the Radisson Blu in Hamburg. Hopefully will be out and about for beers on the Friday night and Saturday before the fight although not as nuts a weekend as it would have been had I been going with mates. Apparently the Reeperbahn is fun, although not with the Mrs I gather!

Can't wait now...

I am thinking of flogging my package as have just got a new job. Four nights flying from Manchester on the Thursday and staying at the hotel eden. 130 euro seat in Haye end. Anyone know how you go about changing names for flights etc? got them cheap as well as i bought them when the rumours started, the price tripled after the initial announcement.

Aye, I'm going Friday morning from Manchester, coming back Sunday via Copenhagen. Staying in a hotel in an area called Altona Nord (sp?) which is between the Old Town and the venue.

All BoxRec posters who are going should meet in some city centre bar on Friday night. Unless you're a twat. I don't include myself in that category, obviously

Can be quite costly to change names....I think theres a fee + the difference in flight costs v current price on some airlines... Hopefully not though.

The airline I'm going with (BMI) do not allow you to change the names even for a fee which is ridiculous.

I thought it was a flat fee of £25 or something. I will look into it. The difference between what i paid and what they are now is £200+.

Mate, you'd absolutely kick yourself if you sold the package. The hype for this will be enormous in a couple of weeks and you'll be glad you decided to go.

Quite a few don't let you do it, i had a flight booked for someone to go to vegas a year ago and the person couldn't make it. Phoned up the airline to change someone else onto the flight and they said it wasn't possible and blamed it on 9/11. Cost one person the £560 for the original flight and the other £750 to get his flight out.

I'll be at the holiday inn for this, not in Germany, in this country at a wedding for someone i don't know and i'm not even sure they'll be showing the fight. The pleasures of being married

She does like her boxing normally and she's been to quite a few with me, even when our hoilidays coincide with fights she doesn't complain.

I'll put it to her that i've spoken to Dr Boxing and he has informed me of the illness. She's bound to buy it!

Out from Southampton on Saturday morning, into Hannover and high speed train from there. Think we get to Hamburg for around noon.

Staying in a hostel somewhere.

You could also develop a particularly nasty bout of Hayefever on the day which makes remaining in England that weekend way too dangerous...

We're both staying at the Grand Elysee. I'll be sending the hotel voucher which will have the address on by Monday.

I'm flying out from Heathrow direct to Hamburg early on Friday morning so i can make the weigh in, 2 nights at the Grand Elysee, €200 seats and flying back early Sunday evening.

Scheduled airlines don't let you change names any more, only change spelling mistakes or abbreviations. Otherwise back when thousands of people were flying to watch Hatton in Vegas but there were only about 600 direct flights per day from the UK someone would buy all the flights under false names, mark them up and re-sell them.

My mates decided to come late notice. Whats the cheapest way for him to get there? He seems to think Amsterdam and then train. He is travelling from York so Amsterdam is very doable from Leeds-Bradford, Manchester or even Hull or Newcastle on the ferry.
