I blame Khan. Or should I say Team Khan.

Let them and start given small promoters a chance

Schaefer and GBP really displaying their ignorance of the UK fight scene.

They need Sky more than Sky need them.

Its about time Sky flexed their muscles to the promoters. Stricter quality control and less blatant milking of fans.

It's just words. I really can't see Golden Boy taking, say, Floyd v Ortiz to an obscure, non-HD PPV platform over skys offering. It'll come down to $$$ at the end of it and if Prime Time can outbid Sky and turn a profit on a Floyd fight at 4am then I will eat Tyson Fury's used undercrackers.

The Guardian ran a very interesting interview with Barney Francis, Sky Sports MD, earlier this week. It was part of Sky Sports 20 year anniversary and focused mainly on changes in the broadcast environment, the impact of subscription football and the impact on grassroots cricket, but there was one insightful quote from Francis relating to Boxing.

One sport he believes needs to take a long look at itself is boxing, after he recently pulled an Amir Khan pay-per-view fight from the schedule because the undercard was too weak.

"Boxing needs to sort itself out and the best fighters need to fight the best fighters. The punters and the broadcasters are sick of seeing some of the guys that are appearing on the right side of the bill," he says.

He surely has to be commended for looking to see through a strategy that forces promoters into taking risks. Maloney has certainly alluded to the changing environment and maybe it's this pressure from Sky that he refers to. There will necessarily be a bit of pain, as some who considered Sky their cash cow suddenly find the payments dry up as a result of complacency.

The first casualty of this is surely "Team Khan" who assumed his £1m for turning up against McCloskey was guaranteed, put no effort into the undercard and were shunted as a result. Their current bleating about sky's lack of respect towards them (last night Khan and his manager posted a tirade of tetchy tweets aimed at Adam Smith and Barney Francis) smacks of bitterness and if they didn't need Sky so much, why not take their toys to Prime Time and keep their mouths shut?

It's probably due to team Khan being a bunch of dicks more than anything. I do feel Khan vs Judah and Khan vs Bradley are good fights but team Khan probably want them as PPV and they aren't quite PPV fights for me. If Khan gets through these fights though and then gets a Mayweather/Pac fight or someone like that then I expect Sky to be straight back knocking on Team Khan's door.

Why do Team Khan or GBP need Sky, if it is true that Channel 5 are getting in to boxing and as primetime are owned by the same company, they have the best platform to sell this PPV, not even Sky can match it. The list of outlets that can be used is impressive, Terrestial TV, daily star, express, surely if C5 does the job right team khan and gbp have jumped from sky at the right time.

Depends on the nature of those problems. Be surprised if they're anything more than 'no more million-pound guarantees Amir'. Find it hard to view this as about anything more than money. Sky have already shown they won't be held to ransom. They've made their position clear and they don't seem willing to budge, which would appear to mean pay the Khans what they're asking. It's business. The Khans had no problem offering the fights to Sky, so there was no issue on their side. And as we know, Sky likes a pound note - if they thought they'd have made money, no way would they have knocked those fights back. There would have to be a lot of give and take on both sides, but Sky don't look like they'll budge over money. It'll be a test of nerve, fascinating.

Amir went on ppv far to early which has made him think he is a ppv star. PPV should be for very big fights only

X2 - and it looks as though that penny might finally have dropped at Sky. Fair play to them, but it will get messy with the promoters and fighters who could once take it for granted.

Allegedly GBP aren't promoting Ortiz v Mayeather. It will be Floyd Mayweather Promotions first event.

It's fantastic that boxing finally has some quality control creeping in. It's a long time overdue.

Is Khan v Judah the same as Manchester United v Halifax. I think it is Haye, not Khan, who has taken the piss most with his PPV title defences.

On subject of Rhodes, the UK TV rights will be held by Rhodes and Hatton, most likely, not Golden Boy.

I've said many times that recently standards are much higher. I got Sky sports back about 10 months ago after being without for 2 years. I was sick of the shite they were feeding us week in week out. Whats the point in watching something if you know the winner beforehand?
Now, nearly all main events are competitive.
