Scott Harrison defends his WBO featherweight title against mandatory challenger William Abelyan at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on March 6.
Harrison, who snatched his crown back from Manuel Medina at the same venue in November, will prepare for Abelyan, an Armenian based in America, at the same isolated training camp he used for the Medina win at Fort William in north-west Scotland.
Harrison's father and trainer Peter said: ''It worked perfectly for the rematch with Medina so unless there's a change in the climate he'll go back up there for three or four weeks.''

Bennie, one thing I wondered, these little updates you always come through with, are they from a news wire, or from boxing news?

This guy looks solid with some decent names on his record. Outside of his early KO loss to Victor Polo, who can punch, his slate is impressive.
He would appear to have the experience and skills to test Harrison.

i see alebyan lost to Victor Polo (ko1) who lost a narrow decision at the York Hall to Chacon, the argentinian who Scott Harrison won the title off

This guy could give Harrison a few problems but once Scott gets to grips with his style i see this fight similar to Victor Santiago. Of course i have never seen Abelyan fight so i am making my statement blind of his ability, but i've made my posting career from ignorant comments...so why stop now?! Harrison TKO7 Abelyan.

Ahh, you mean in the rematch.

Yes, I think its a wise move to take his mandatory now - I want to see Harrison just have a slightly easier defence on paper. He's still learning and I think Abelyan is just right for now.

The fighters above Medina are a bit special.

This is a good matchup for the tartan terror, a southpaw who is ranked in the top ten, so it will be another good scalp for Scott when he wins

If Harrison gets past this one, it's a great learning fight, and it shows real ambition to be taking on Abelyan straight after his life or death struggles with Medina.

In their first fight, Medina ran & slapped for 12 rounds, & took a one sided beating in the rematch

I meant more than life and death in terms of his career....

Even in the 2nd fight I didn't think he had an easy time of it with Medina, easier yes, but easy, no.

I missed all of the chatter over Harrison's rematch win over Medina because I went on holiday the morning after the fight.

Harrison certainly put the record straight but I agree with James further up the thread who states it was certainly a far from easy victory for Scott. Until he got his second wind I thought there might even be some danger of a Medina comeback, Harrison put everything into getting him out of there early doors.

Showed he was in great shape though. Never heard of this chap he's fighting this time....

He was extremely dirty as well, there should have been several point deductions.
I recall reading a post by someone, it may have been here or it may have been on another board, where they were talking about how Medina was so battered that he was slumping to the floor to buy time to recover. I found that hilarious since what was actually happening was Harrison was constantly aiming to land rabbit punches and was catching Medina behind the head and kneck and thus bowling him over.
He did well to stop Medina but it was a tainted win IMHO, a competant ref and the outcome could've been a whole lot different.
