Tickets are like hen's teeth now and practically sold out a week ago - three weeks before fight night.

Those that said Sheffield fight fans don't support their boxers must be feeling a bit daft now.

Its only a leisure centre so couple of thousand max.

It's what they need to be doing, it's what Frank didn't do. What would you rather do, fight about 5th down the order on a big show undercard when half the crowd haven't arrived and the other half are just warming up, or be the main attraction in front of 1-2 thousand in a leisure centre knowing you are building up for more. Can work both ways but I think this approach is right for Kel, get Sheffield behind him and he could revive that scene a bit.

I think it's a great move. Kell has a lot of friends as he is a popular lad, and I suspect Sheffield will come out for him as he moves onto bigger fights.Am really looking forward to seeing him achieve his potential now.I like the way Eddie Hearn does things.Proffessionally and with a smile on his face.

Tut, why so negative? I think being on the big undercards works for some fighters and not others, didn't seem to be working for Kel so I think this is a positive step. There comes a point where you have to be the main event even if it is only 1,000 people, at least they will all be cheering for Kel than him being some warm up fodder for a bigger fight.

Its the media focus on Kell that is worth as much (even more) than the event tbh.
Its a main event, solid opponent and we've seen that Matchroom can get the publicity right.

The atmosphere is more important than the size of the venue. I remember Haye v Thompson, which was at the 02 as I recall (is that right), and it was about a 1/3rd full. It was like a morgue.

I think it was the manager of The Clash, Bernie Rhodes, who said it was always better to lock people out of a small hall than have a half empty big hall, not only is the atmosphere better but it creates a mystique around an event that makes more people want to buy tickets next time so you can fill a big hall. And God knows what made me think of that!

He certainly did say that - although the Clash played some massive venues in the States. Its a shame Bernie Rhodes led the sacking of Mick Jones - the last Clash album was absolutely awful.

If Kell's last promoter had given him a bigger push he may have stayed with him.

Quite sure they sold 3,000 tickets, but were expected to sell 4,000

Hillsborough Leisure Centre holds around 1200 - 1500 tickets.

All Inner & Ringside tickets have been sold and I am under the impression there is roughly less than 30 of the unreserved tickets left.

Gonna be a great atmosphere and a good homecoming for one of its if the not the best boxer in Sheffield currently.

Here's hoping he starts shifting tickets at bigger venues as he progresses, unlike Witter.

I'd hardly call him popular though, outside of Sheffield.

If he is stopped on the street anywhere it's probably because he looks like Robbie Paul :)
