I think he is staying amateur for a little while longer yet, think it was on the Ed robinson's news Round up on ringside on Thursday.

I was at Ally Pally earlier and saw him in the final. I left as his fight finished, just before his decision was announced, but I'm pretty sure he won.

He looked good. Willing to engage, but when he stood off and his opponent tired in the last round, he was landing big booming shots uppercuts and shots to the body. He looked decent.

I went to see my mates nephew, Jordan Grannum, who won his fight directly before the Eubank Jr bout.

Hey Bob, do you know how 'Shea' Neary's son (James Metcalf) got on too?

I know that sometimes famous sons get publicity based purely on their dad's but I like the look of Eubank Junior. I met him in Las Vegas at Barry's boxing gym on Thanksgiving last year. The only two fighters in there were Marcos Maidana and Chris. It was his attitude as much as his ability that impressed me.

Hi Ed,

I'm not sure, to be honest, I don't think I saw James Metcalf fight. They had three bouts happening consecutively in three different rings, so I only caught a third of the fights.

There were some cracking fights today, actually. Really good value for £10. Think in total there were 60 bouts.

And from what I saw, Eubank Jr looked one of the more outstanding fighters today.

Grannum from Islington could be something! Won the novices this season and I presume is still unbeaten? Islington are a great club.

@dbf

Yeah, he's still unbeaten. It was the first time I've seen him, but he's my mates nephew, and he tells me he's unbeaten in the am's so far. He looked a really good fighter. Bit too keen to stand and have a fight with the other guy, but when he stood off in the third round, you could see he's got a really good jab and he's a proper boxer. He put his opponent down in the first with a punch that *I* didn't even see, let alone the other fighter!

Was there a decent crowd there Bob? It sounds a really good event, I hope it did well.

Yeah, seemed a fair old crowd. Nice venue for an event like this, would have been nice for the boxers to perform somewhere like Alexandra Palace, in the Great Hall. As I'm sure is the case normally, it was mostly family and friends watching, but there was a lot of interest in the Eubank Jr fight. Biggest crowd of the day for sure.

I thought that he won three times. He was, so I'm told, dropped in one of the fights. Patient and relaxed.
The Boddy Man will give an update on the BBC London 94.9 show on Thursday night - note new summer start time of 9pm.

Adios.
