I remember reading a lot about Francisco Bojado being a sure world champion but it never worked out that way.

paul ingle hit the heights, but peter richardson was supposed to be the guvnor :!: he had an illustrious hard am career & i dont know enough on him wether it wasnt there or wether his am career took it's toll??

Peter Richardson was a class amateur,beat Vernon Forest at the 1992 olympics,never really looked the same in the pros...

Just checked his record,i thought he lost his first pro fight to the foreigner who took Georgie Smiths unbeaten record&he did..

I thought James Hare was going to go alot further than he did. I thought he would only the fact the devision was so loaded with talent at the time that cost him.

Danny Williams was another - really thought he was going to make it on his run just before the sam loss.

I think Danny Williams over achieved. Did you think he was going to world champion then?

I always thought Bradley Pryce would hit real heights.

Francisco Bojado was unbelievable in his early days, he looked like a future superstar and hall of famer....

Domestically, I expected Henry Wharton to go further. He had a fine career but fell short, and although he was known as a come forward slugger kind of fighter, in the amateurs he was a really good and accomplished boxer. By the time he was challenging for professional world titles, he'd become a bit one dimensional.

I thought bradley pryce would be a world title contender. Gary Lockett and Jennings i thought could pick up vacant's, Tony Doherty i thought would be amazing. Jawaid Khaliq could have done more, Kerry Hope, Derry Mathews although he has come back and looking good. i also thought Jason Booth following the Hunter fight would go on to do more but i think he peaked there

Not the greatest of all time, but I thought he looked good enough to beat the likes of Ruiz.

Adrian Dodson is the first Brit who came to mind. He just didn't have that intangible will and steel needed at the very top level

Worldwide, when Goyo Vargas beat Paul Hodkinson so effortlessly, I thought we were looking at the next Julio Cesar Chavez. Lost in his first defence - admittedly to Kevin Kelley!

So many it's heartbreaking! When Alan Temple beat Richie Edwards (RIP) in the ABA final I though he looked sensational. Then in his pro debut he got dropped by a kid who was making his debut who was something like 2-3 as an amateur! David Starie was an incredible amateur too - 3 ABA titles, beat Dean Francis, stopped Jason Matthews in 1, never improved enough as a pro. Benny May. Cham Joof. Danny Costello. Paul Miles, who stopped Richard Williams in the amateurs. Matthew Ellis. I agree about Adrian Dodson / Carew.

I remember Jonny Armour winning the Commonwealth title (when it was still a cup not a belt!) - he looked on course to go all the way. Did he get involved in drugs, I can't quite remember.

i think armour got mixed in the wrong crowd & got involved in some skull duggery & got on it abit too much :!: even before the ampofo fights armour had gone & was half the fighter imo.

Jamie Moore is a good shout. Not that he flopped, but could have gone further.

you out of all people i thought would of rated danny.

williams to me had speed,power & most important heart, he just lacked belief & let nerves take control often taking a beating before realising he was better
