Was just wondering about the UK's standing in boxing on the world stage if by the end of this year:

Barker, one of our best talents is beaten handily by Martinez.

Andre Ward outboxes Froch in a boring fight in which he sticks to his boxing, doesn't get involved in a punch up and wins a wide decision.

Haye gets knocked out by Klitschko.

All these outcomes are more than possible in my opinion and with Rhodes being outclassed by Alvarez and Macklin despite giving his all and still coming up short, will we be looking at grim times ahead for UK boxers on the world scene?

On the bright side we do have fighters on the domestic scene that have potential down the road such as Price, Chisora, Stephen Smith, Degale, Groves etc. We also have Khan, Cleverly and Burns winning and holding "world" titles. So is the immediate future bright or not?

I forgot to mention John Murray and Kell Brook there.

In honesty we have such great strength in depth and thats something that the americans cant say these days nor too many other nations.

Even if froch loses to ward which he may stylistically froch will still be a world superstar and looking forward to blockbusters against kessler and or pavlik, bute to reestablish himself to name but a few of his options.

haye is retiring anyway and has had a decent run.

Barker losing to martinez isnt gonna be the end of the world martinez is one of the very best in the world.

I see what your saying, but as Mugabi said, Haye is 'retiring' anyway, nobody really expects Barker to beat Martinez and Froch will be the underdog again Ward. So to be honest if all of the above do suffer defeats thay are still got enuff to be a force in the divisions they are in. Froch may well move to lightheavy if he gets beat.

If am being honest I think Haye, Froch, Burns, Cleverly and Khan will still be World champions after all their next fights. I think Kell Brook, will push on and get some sort of interim title by 2012 maybe box Malinaggi or Mike Jones. I think things are only going to get better for British boxing.
