BOXER James DeGale was gobsmacked when a yob thumped him — and knocked out a tooth.
The 6ft super-middleweight, 25, was partying with Jade Goody's widower Jack Tweed, 24, at a hotel in Puerto Banus, Spain, when he got into a row with other Brits.
Hotel minders stepped in after the former UK champion was hit and lost his false front tooth.
But in the mayhem at the pool party he also lost a bag with clothes and credit cards.
One witness said: "Several Manchester lads got into a row with him. It wasn't clear what about.
"The group that started everything call themselves the 'Manc steroid crew'.
"Then this chap knocked his tooth out."
James, from North London, said: "Things like this get blown out of proportion. It was nothing. I prefer to keep it in the ring if possible."
A pal of the star said: "James was minding his own business when this guy seemed to take exception to something or thought he was being ignored and just took a swing at James and hit him in the mouth.
"James was taken aback but surprisingly restrained in the circumstances.
"The hotel security people were on the scene quickly and dealt with it — but in the middle of it someone walked off with James's bag and all his credit cards and personal stuff."

It would appear that a big brave idiot has clocked him with a sneaky dig while the idiot had all his 'Manc steroid crew' with them. DeGale lost a tooth (albeit false), and had his belonging's stolen.

The sentence that says it all is:
"Several Manchester lads got into a row with him".

The only crime De Gale is committing here is partying with that knob Tweedy.

Is the stereotype about Manchester folks abroad well-evidenced enough that I can use it now? Only I'd hate to be accused of racism

Hanging out with a z grade celeb like Jack Tweedy and men calling themselves the 'Manc steriod crew' is far more embarressing then having your gold tooth knocked out.

My mate got attacked by some lad in Tenerife a few years ago, the attacker proudly claimed that he was "King Manc" (what a bell end)

I had high hopes for DeGale, even after getting beaten by Groves. But if he's going to hang around with the likes of Jack Tweedy he's going to end up going down the pan in no time.

Sounds like another case of Cipriani/Henson.

Agree with the sentiments about Jack tweedy. What a knob head, if you hang round with people like that and large it up like you are a big shot, then don't be surprised when drunken idiots start fights with you! It also shows that DeGale probably hasn't got any real friends if he has to resort to Z-list celebs like Tweedy rather than just stick with his own pals.
