Dimi avoids Mormeck (apparently) and takes a voluntary against Sprott.

another great opportunity for Sprott who has somehow miraculously got decisions in hometown germany in the past.

but which Sprott will turn up? when he isnt up for it he can really plod along for dull points losses. But if he gets a chance to land on Dimi's chin he could spring an almighty upset.

I like Dimitrenko, he gets a lot of stick but he definately has the tools

I'm very confident that Dimitrenko wins this. He's a lower level world class type, and Sprott can't beat that type of fighter at this stage. I would also pick Dimitrenko over Mormeck.

When and where is this?

From what I've seen heard of Mormeck since Haye, I feel a "good" Sprott poses more of a threat than the Frenchman. However, good opportunity but have to go for Dimitrenko here - just too damn big.

Did Haye spar with Dimitrenko for the Wlad fight? Would have thought he would be a good choice?

I can't see Sprott winning a decision against Dimitrenko and can't see him managing to knock Dimitrenko out.

Dimitrenko is hovering just below the World title level. Once the Klitschko's retire I can see this guy possibly managing to get his hands on a belt for a little bit.

Sprott has been a decent fighter over the years,but he dosent deserve a Euro title shot..

most of the euro guys are universum...there isnt really anyone left out there who is small and marketable but poses limited threat.

i'll be cheering on sprott but i think in alex's last few fights he's finally put it all together and i think he will dominate sprott

Is Sprotty with universum? He's a reasonably well promoted boxer - he's had a fair few opportunities.

How does Sprott keep getting these opportunities? He got knocked out by an Audley Harrison who couldn't use his right arm. Not to mention his embarassing performance in the International Prizefighter. The guy's crap.

The defence is a voluntary defence, so there's your answer as to why he has got a shot.

However I am more interested to hear why you would say he is crap?

He's had it, man. Take away the Prizefighter he won and he's lost 6 out of his last 9 fights.

He's in no way fit to be challenging for anything.

Generally agree although that's not an entirely fair way of looking at it - take away the prizefighter he won, but lets not take away the prizefighter he lost in the first round.

I guess its a compasionate decision based on he was within a minute of winning the strap.

Definately more worthy contenders - Ustinov (even though I think he would get slaughtered by Dimetrenko), Boystov, Bydenko, Helenius (especially him) far far more worthy too name a few.

Don't give Sprott much chance. In the past five years, the only times he't not fought like a journeyman has been in Prizefighter and against Harrison. In other words, when he's in the away corner and away from home, he does a Julius Francis, but he can turn it on when he's under the home spotlight. Unfortunately, his fight with Dimitrenko falls into the former category.
