Quigg World title eliminator

Scott Quigg's next fight against Franklin Varela has been made a world title eliminator for WBA belt held by Akifumi Shimoda. Credit to Hatton he is getting a lot of his fighters world title shots and against true champions, unlike Warren's paper champions. I think he would have a good chance against Shimoda, but im not sure he'll have title for long because Rico Ramos is challenging him next week and i doubt Quigg would be able to beat Ramos

Maybe Poonsawat should be looking at an alphabet title with a name like that. He'd win hands down :OhYes:

Whoever wins the eliminator will be getting a shot at a relatively weak champ. Good opportunity for Quigg.

Quigg done nothing to earn any shot at World title. Munroe not really getting much of a push with the Hattons!

Iv met quigg and got his autograph, but to be honest if you look at his record it all looks padded, not one person has a decent record on it..i can predict the fight before it happens because of it..quigg will beat this next push over easy.

I watched Quigg train a few weeks back and the guy is an animal. He really is a class act and i think he can go a long way. I definately think he should fight Jason Booth next before trying to move onto the world scene.

I honestly do think he'll come good in 2012

Weak champion? Shimoda is pretty solid, Ramos is no mug either. Also Rigondeaux has to fight the winner of Shimoda-Ramos before anyone else. So it's not going to be potentially a gimme for Quigg.

it's a tough division, he would be better fighting a few guys like Booth or Martinez maybe for the European title to prepare himself for a world title shot. The gulf in class between what he's beaten and the guys who are world champions at 122 is huge.

I said weak champion, and Shimoda/Ramos would definitely fit that bill imo. Didn't know the winner had to fight Rigo though, and he definitely aint a weak champ.

What I am told is that despite this being an eliminator, Scott will still box for the British title against Booth before going for a world title.

Would you consider Shimoda/Ramos a gimme for Quigg to win the title?

No, but Quigg would have a better chance against one of them than he would against most champions.
