Actually, I have...! It seems that if you shell out for a PPV you get to see even less of the card than you do on a regular Saturday show.

I was so angry about this last night that I vowed to actually write to Adam Smith about it.

It really is beyong insulting.

You knew there was going to be little undercard so stop feeling hard done by. The fight you paid to see was Haye Klitschko not Sexton Robinson or Afolabi Dunstan

They showed all but two rounds of the fights its not that big a deal

On Haye's last PPV they showed the Groves fight and highlight's of another, followed by the farce that was the Harrison fight. Seems to be a running theme with Sky. But nothing will ever change until we stop paying.

we werent allowed to enjoy the atmosphere either instead infuriatingly it ws in the studio with for all their recent good work nelson and mcguigan squabbling and sadly barry was at his bitchy interrupting, talking over best......

Even with big fights like this, there needs to be some good undercard stuff to make the show an evenings entertainment. The broadcast Sky showed didn't simply didn't cut it.

Remarkably weak undercard really.

Given the time between fights could we not just been shown the full under card? I know people want to see the main fight but I'd quite happily watch the whole thing from the comfort of my arm chair. Will beat watching Johnny Nelson talk shit and interupting anyone that say the opposite to him.

It was a weak undercard, but I really didn't want to know about the stag party trip to Hamburg - those probably got complimentary tickets by sky also.

Froch spoke alot of sense IMO, but I think in future Sky need make sure Froch and Johnny do not appear on the same show together - both like to talk a fair amount and at one stage all three (Froch, Barry and Johnny) were speaking over each other and you couldn't hear a word.

Either avoid that combination or get a stronger presenter who can get some order.

I tell you what, after the event, I said to myself, after a fight that epic, I sure was glad that Sky had the chance to give a 3 hour buildup to it. imagine what we'd have missed out on, otherwise....

For me, the reason we get less undercard on the ppv's than even some normal Saturday nights is that the ppv is aimed at the general sports fans (the football crowd etc) and the standard saturday nights are aimed at the hardcore boxing fans.

I think they've made a decision that a very large percentage of their ppv viewers will have never heard of guys like sexton (for example) and aren't interested in the undercard really. They are not interested in watching boxing for boxings sake, they want to see an 'event'.

And as much as it frustrates me I think they've got this right from a business perspective. The guys I know who bought this who don't usually watch boxing would rather watch all the 'hype' (even the studio guys talking nonsense over each other) than undercard fights from guys they've never heard of.

It's easy for us, when we are obsessed with boxing, to forget that loads of people who buy ppv's couldn't even name five of Haye's past opponents never mind be interested in the undercard. This isn't helped by undercards often being so bad - If Groves DeGale had been on that undercard you can bet they would have shown every round live.

Again, I don't agree with the approach they take - but I do fully understand why they do it.

Agree, but I guess there are different type of PPV's.... the Mag 7 bill, another I didn't think should have been a PPV was certainly more about the boxing. This certainly was geared towards the casual fans - the stag party trip, even having a free view period with an encryption time. I aint seen that since the very early days of PPV.

Positive note, for the first time that I can remember Sky didn't show adverts between rounds on a PPV. That's a major breakthrough IMO and something I've been bitching about for ages as HBO and Showtime have never done that. Fair play Adam Smith.

Reading the above posts makes disgraceful reading. Sky's boxing coverage is getting worse and worse. Adam Smith is sellling us a lot of shit disguised as gold.

I thought that it was interesting that in the pre-fight party piece that Craig Slater did, the whole Sky boxing team seemed to be there. He was talking to McCrory, Spencer Oliver etc.

Given that they weren't used on the coverage (or the bit that I watched), does Sky take its whole team to these events regardless or would they be there in other capacities?

The undercard was shit! But it was all about the main event so if you were not happy dont pay!
