Yip, its been confirmed. On the undercard of Mayweather v Ortiz. Also on the bill is Saul Alverez v Alfonso Gomez. Crolla will do way out there. Big chance for him to show how much he's improved.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but we're talking about Eric Morales? If so, how did this happen? I've been reading about all these opponets he was going to be facing but never saw Crolla's name mentioned once. If so, what an opportunity.

He fought Willie Limond recently & it is no stranger than that. Maybe it is so they can sell the fight card over here with having some British interest.

Odd choice (ignoring the money), Crolla is a small Lightweight who could probably still make 130, Morales hasn't been below 140 in 4/5 years.

I admire Anthony "Million Dollar" Crolla's willingness to go in with a future Hall of Famer in the shape of Erik Morales, but I just feel that he is going get battered by a more stronger and vastly experienced fighter in Morales. Best of luck though.

What a strange fight to be made. Great opportunity for Crolla though, on a massive stage against a marquee name. Definetly his chance to make a real name for himself stateside and likely get a title shot of the back of it. Really tough fight for him though

No stranger than Pavlik v Lockett.
I never quite understood that one and the fight itself just proved how bizarre it was.

That was a result of Lockett (somehow) being made WBO number 1 contender. Same with Cotto - Jennings.
I admire Crolla and his team taking this fight, maybe they feel there is nothing to lose. Problem is that Crolla was a Super Feather two fights ago, who only went up to Lightweight because a short notice British title shot was offered. Now he's looking at fighting a Light Welter. I'm not sure he's big enough tbh, but kudos for taking the challenge.

I think its an opportunity that would be hard to turn down - being on such a huge show.
Even if he gets beat, the exposure he would get from a good performance would be fantastic.

the thing that is confusing me about all of this is that surely Crolla will be much the smaller man against an incredibly experienced operator who went 12 rounds with a hard hitting 140lb-er in his last fight.
it's a great chance of exposure etc but Anthony's momentum is terrific at the moment and this could just take it right out. Limond's career was already flattened out whereas Anthony's is just on the up
Morales and his people will see it as a tune up for a December fight against someone who will bring UK audience theoretically, but they're even talking about Morales going up to 147lb and Anthony has only moved up to 135 to take that British title shot.
Hopefully Joe G's got it right and Anthony can do a number or put in a performance. He's one of my favourite current British boxers and I think he's got the potential to go very far, sometimes a big fight too soon can put you back a long way though. I hope that's not the case here

I'd imagine they took it because they think they can beat Morales, who doesn't exactly look huge at 140lbs and their gameplan won't involve being physical where any extra "strenth" or size comes into play.

aye, true, but as much as I like Crolla and admire his style, i don't think hanging around in front of Morales with earmuffs on is going to pose him too many problems.
my guess is Crolla would need to move MUCH more than we have seen him move, to be effective here.
i do think Morales will probably look a lot bigger in the ring.

The skillset difference is will be immense, a specialist technician versus an energetic labourer

i'm sure crolla will get stuck in as macklin did for his big fight.
looks like joe gallagher's fighters are really going for it this year.
morales has the size and experience advantages but i hope he doesn't think he's taking on a softy who will fall over at the first body shot. will morales even be in the best of shape for this one? or will it be a bloated morales?
crolla is class, and while it's a weird fight it can really raise his profile. i can't see a timid or disappointing performance from him. as long as he lands some terrific shots and gives it his best, as well as boxing intelligently, this could raise his stock - win or lose.
hope to see crolla throw a sharp jab and rip that old body of "terrible", who might be carrying apaunch on the night.
don't think we've seen the best of crolla. no one outside of britain knows how good he is, and i'm hoping he can cause a surprise.
