Just thinking about where Haye goes from here.....

I still think he's capable of beating most of the other top heavies on his day but, unless he can find a new approach, his size and technical deficiencies will always mean that there's a glass ceiling as far as the Klitschkos are concerned.

He could move back down to cruiser but the issue here is that there's a complete lack of saleable fights and the only one with any appeal (Steve Cunningham) would possibly necessitate another trip to Germany. Add to that the fact that it's a risky fight that if he lost could also undermine his cruiserweight legacy.

With that in mind, perhaps his retirement could come before October.

There's obviously a chance he could face the winner of Fury/Chisora - but would he really want to drop back down to domestic level?

He could also look to stage a farewell fight against a credible but handpicked opponent designed to make him look good (maybe a Mormeck rematch?) - but would that have enough pull at th box office?

Then there's the 'X' factor.....

......a P4P fight against Hopkins at cruiserweight - due to both men's personas this could generate big numbers in Vegas and could actually be an intriguing fight.

So what's gonna happen?

good points. plenty of options. i think if he bet wlad he would of retired. he'll surley fight on now. he wont want to end it on a loss.

Maybe Arreola? Top ten contender, well known, and very beatable.

A fight with Hopkins would be a travesty imo.

IMO there are just two options for Haye. 1. a rematch 2. a fight against Vitali. I think he is going to quit this year or the next (if there is a rematch and he wins it or if he fights Vitali and wins that he might retire next year). Other moves just don't make sense. Why he would go down to cruiserweight? He was the undisputed champion there is nothing more for him there.

i think the klitschkos have maybe washed their hands with haye? they dont need him now. a fight with arreola could sell tho?

haye aint intrested in being a fighter :!: he's fast tracked himself & has made himself fantastic money. he got to the top & left at the top.

Yea, and I don't see how this would sell in Vegas etc at all - judging by twitter anyone from over there who watched last night are angry that Haye 'did nothing'. They wont pay to watch him again.

I think a Vitali fight could be a possibility. After seeing how easily Wlad handled him, I'm sure the big brother would fancy a go. They could go for the angle that he still feels insulted by the stuff Haye said about his family and wants to knock him out to really teach him a lesson. Haye is known in Germany and last night was slightly better than most Klitschko fights.

To sell the fight, Haye would have to stop the celeb stuff, shut up about his toe and do the whole Rocky 4 thing properly. If he goes off to Turkish Cyprus, grows a beard and talks about learning a lesson, going back to basics and his determination to show the real David Haye- he could get people back on side. Possibly write 'be moody but humble' on the back of his hand every day. Adam Booth also doing his bit by saying 'he's seen something' and a gallery of popular boxing faces being wheeled out to say they've never seen the Hayemaker so focussed and he's ready to do himself justice.

He should retire imo, against Vlad he looked like he lost his hunger for the sport and perhaps with all the October 13th retirement talk that when push came to shove he just wasn't prepared to go to war. Shame he reminded me a lot of Hamed in his loss to Barrera.

I could see the same mentality but the difference was Barrera changed his gameplan whereas in my opinion Wlad did what he always does and still prevailed.

Haye gave him a few problems, don't get me wrong, but I think Wlad showed how effective he is as at doing what he does best last night.

And I agree Walker, he should retire as he said he would do by his 31st birthday... It's been a good ride, it's been fun, he won't be getting a rematch so walk away. Give Wlad his due, and hold his head up high saying he did his best.

There's no shame in that.
