Haye: I was all talk (video)

Link for interview Haye did earlier on Sky news, he obviously sounds more humble in defeat but at least he's giving credit to Wladimir for the victory and realises he wasn't good enough on the night.

Yes good. The better man (boxer and more importantly person) won the fight.

Nowhere for Haye to go now - He "demands" a rematch!!? Who is he to demand anything?

Well you don't know that Wladimir is the better person, infact some of his actions over the years connected to boxing hardly put him in the best of lights.

I bet that the Haye Team is now kicking themselves for not having a rematch clause in the contract which i'm pretty sure Klitschko would have signed up for, the whole retirement talk got in the way of making a good business decision.

Did you even watch it?

He doesn't demand a rematch in any way shape or form. He actually says...

The only way to find out (if the toe was an issue) is to fight him again with it healed. That's a long shot.

I'm hoping they (Klitschko camp) have a change of heart. They have had a change of heart in the past in negotiations.

If Wladimir knows he can generate more by fighting me than anyone else, fingers crossed he comes back.

Asked about a rematch with Klitschko beyond his 31st birthday, Haye added: "I'd have to seriously consider it. I'm just hoping if there is a date that pops up, it is before October 13."

But beggars can't be choosers. In an ideal world it would be before then and I can stick to it (retirement plan) but if it is after then... I've made a lot of promises that I've broken but, then again, I made a lot of promises before this fight and didn't produce the goods.

I'd love the opportunity to challenge Wladimir again for his titles that he rightly deserves to have.

As the challenger, given the opportunity again, I'm pretty sure I could do things differently.

Haye is shelving his retirement plans by the looks of it, and seems to be on a damage limitation excersize. He is in his prime, and now it seems he is hungry for the right reasons. He nees to smash his way to another shot. He is capable of beating Wlad with his power, and I do not think we saw the best of David Haye on Saturday.

Haha - I was just thinking this. There has been a massive change between the early post-fight stuff and today. Some of that will be reality setting in after time to reflect of course. But it seems every interview or comment on twitter now is coming from a different person from yesterday!

I wouldn't be surprised if Booth has had a word - he has seemed quite measured since the event and probably realises David was doing himself no favours.

How is Wlad the better person?

Do you know him? Do you know Haye?

Furthermore he is not 'demanding' a rematch. Stick to facts and not obnoxious comments which have no substance, mate.

Actually you're wrong as there is footage of him limping getting off a plane plus it explains why he stopped sparring 3 weeks ago. He probably shouldn't have brought it up post fight interview although he was asked why he lost and i guess he felt that was a strong reason why.

Jesus, Haye is such a bullshitter.

And he'd like another chance, as he "feels he could do things differently.." oh right, a 6 million quid fornicate up and you'd like to get paid again to have another chance.

And it has to be right away, you wont wait for the Klit brothers.....stand back for the mad stampede to take him up on that one.

Thousands of people saw David Haye in the build-up to the fight. How many of them reported that he was limping? None? Now he clearly appears to be limping everywhere he goes. I'm interested in the apparent medical regression.
Are you calling David Haye a liar? he dosen't have to prove anything to anyone. Of cause they wouldn't have let the media know about his injury and i'm sure he was getting cortisone shots for public appearance and media workouts, it's just a shame he was put in a position where he had to fight due to his 2 previous pullouts against either Klitschko.

You can actually see him limping slighly in this video and carrying his weight on one leg from the 6min mark.

to be fair he has just thought a 12 round fight on a broken toe, i should imagine that hasnt helped.

If anyone has broken a toe or a footbone i think they would all agree you would limp. I doubt breaking your little toe would stop you boxing especially with local anestetic and adrenaline but general day to day walking is bloody painfull.

Yes. He is a liar. He sat in press conferences and told everybody he was in great shape. Then, the moment he is announced as the vanquished, he whips off his boot and starts bitching that he's had a broken toe for three weeks.
Plus he keeps sayng he was asked the question about whyhe did not do xyz, he brought it up himself for no reason.

Me toe, me toe!

Imagine Tyson complaining about his little toe. Jake La Motta? Ali? Holyfield had a bit of ear bitten off! These are Warriors, Haye is not.

Yea, you're right what an utter disgrace. Why on earth did Haye not tell his opponent in the toughest fight of his career that he's carrying an injury that will have a fundamental impact on his strategy and effectiveness prior to the fight? While we're on it, why did Haye not come on here and post all details of his training, strategy and sparring as it happened just to be completely open and transparent?

It was wrong to blame defeat in the toe. But that was in the immediate aftermath, in the ring, when the bitter taste of defeat was still strong. In every interview yesterday he blamed defeat on wlad being the better man.

MachoMan you seem to have some vitriolic hate towards David Haye. I know you don't like the man but don't you like his fighting style, achievements in the sport?

I broke my little toe once, and it was bleedin' agony. As you say, the anaesthetic probably stopped it hurting for the duration of the fight, but it would hurt like buggery now.

I have to say, all this stuff is really sticking in my craw.

What I don't get is that before every fight you get a medical. If its a World Title fight the medical officer wouldd not leave a stone unturned. I do believe Haye has a broken toe, I do believe it limited him to do certain things in the fight. In terms of him Lying, I would have done the same thing, knowing that all the Brits spent their hard earned cash to go out to see him, I wouldn't want to be the guy who let everyone done even before a punch was thrown. The best thing would have been if Haye hadn't said he had a broken toe atol and just accepted he was beaten by the better guy.

Agree. It's tiresome.

Sounds like almost the whole HW division is currently throwing their name forward to challenge Haye. Must all fancy their chances after what they saw on Sat night.

I seem to remember Lennox Lewis getting a couple of rematches after he'd made a pigs ear out of it. Why not David Haye.

Strange comparison. Lennox was a great and proven champ in the division and had therefore earned redemption fights. Haye has not shown anything at this weight/level to indicate he should be allowed another go. Lewis was beat unexpectedly whereas most people outside this country knew Wlad would win this one. Loads of people wanted to see Lewis Rahman rematch etc. Would people be desperate to watch that dreadful fare from Sat night again?

He gave a better performance than Wlads recent opponents, Wlad lost a few rounds (on my card) and Wlad did 'not' put Haye to sleep as he promised to do for all his fans.

I'd watch it again.

What a dumb comparison. Lewis got rematches because he was the champ and they were the challengers coming into the fight. Haye had a single belt coming into the fight with Wlad and was not recognised by anyone, save the clinically insane as 'the man' at heavyweight,

I don't have vitriolic hate towards anyone and certainly not David Haye. I've said many times that he was a quality operator at cruiserweight and the fact he managed to step up to heavyweight and win a version of the championship was an amazing achievement. Just because I picked Klitschko to beat him comfortably and stated that I don't buy into his pre-fight hardman act, doesn't mean I hate the guy. Far from it. I am, though, disappointed in the way he conducted himself in the immediate aftermath of the fight. It came over as childlike and weak. If you've got an injury that you think may significantly hamper your performance, you should either withdraw or not use it as an excuse in the event of a loss, in my view.
:TU: Fair enough and agree the post-fight interview could have been tackled far better than he did do as I cringed a bit myself but then I feel any sportsman who performs badly might look to an injury such as a broken toe as a reason why. just my opnion though.
