He didn't hint that in my opinion - he said for any of his boxers (Groves etc) he always worries about them getting hurt because he is their coach and friend.

To be honest I don't think Booth said anything that he didn't say outside the team hotel the day after the fight. He clearly thinks Haye should stick to his plan and retire in October but he hasn't changed his story on this. He has a slightly different view on the fight to David as he says "Wlad basically won every round" but its probably only David's pride stopping him saying that as well.

The one thing I thought was interesting (that he also said the day after the fight) was that Haye took a really big shot in the 6th and then his legs weren't working for a few rounds. The way he said it the day after the fight it sounded like like the punch affected david for a while and he seemed to be saying that again today. Haye may not appreciate his trainer saying he got that hurt by a shot if Haye is claiming he was never hurt but overall I don't see any beef between them at all. I would like to see what shot they are referring to - it wasn't the Wlad right in the fifth that's been shown on all the highlights etc.

One thing that is funny is remembering all the build up hype about Booth's tactical nouse, when we now know that Booth's one tactic is Haye vs Valuev.

I do agree with mkirkhope, on this one.

He didn't seem to be saying anything really that much different, although it was an interesting point about the shot in Rnd 6.

I think Booth, in all honesty, as fast and as hard as Haye punches, probably believes Wlad is just that bit too good for anything Haye has. So probably will advise him to stick to his retirement date.

Not so sure Haye will be happy to go out on that note, though. So we shall see. I do think he will retire, personally, but that loss will eat away at him.

If Haye wants to be the best, then he needs a world class trainer. Postpone the retirement, work with Freddie Roach for a year and fight Arreola, Holyfield and Chambers. In a years time he'll be the best he's ever going to be and then have another crack at who's on top.

I felt Booth was being very proffessional and will keep his full opinion for Haye, which is fair enough.They are a good team.

Going to the Wilcard or anywhere else won't help at this point of Hayes career. Him and Booth have a bond and although it didn't work out against Wlad I can't see Haye blaming Booth or leaving him should he decide to continue.

He wouldn't necessarily have to leave him, Booth is also his manager and I don't know for sure but I assume he has a role in Hayemaker promotions. He could be asst trainer if he was affable

I thought he was very unprofessional. Some of the things he was saying should have been discussed behind closed doors.

There's no point continuing with a trainer who doesn't believe in you.

Hayes stamina didn't seem to be lacking, it was his reluctancy to step in and commit to shooting more than one punch. Freddie can't change his pyschological make up as a fighter, and few people will know David better than Booth.

Haye was definitely blowing through the middle rounds.

Agreed, FR isn't the only solution when I fighter loses and I have never mooted him before for another fighter. But Haye is the type of fighter who usually works well wilth Roach and I had expected them to work together long before his fight with Wlad

I'm surprised people are saying that interview showed Booth "doesn't believe in him". I don't think that's how it came across at all. I'm not Booths biggest fan but I think since the fight (including this interview) he has been very honest and has played a decent part in nullifying some of Haye's silly comments. He was maybe a bit embarrassed about all the toe stuff etc and is trying to redress the balance. I think Booth is quite clever and he knows if he just sat there and repeated David's excuses then the situation would get worse.

The Valuev 'is a sunday pub league player quote' was certainly interesting though - he obviously said it as a big compliment to Wlad, but it's maybe not the best idea calling the biggest scalp on your fighters heavyweight record a 'pub level player'. Up until now the team's line seems to have been that beating Valuev was an amazing achievement.

I'd still be interested to know thoughts on the 6th round punch stuff. Would a punch that didn't seem to have much effect at the time really stop your legs from working for several rounds? I'm not saying it was an excuse - just given that I haven't boxed I'd like to know if that could easily happen.

Booth and Haye have been an excellent team and it would be a shame if it all fell apart at the seams now. Booth strikes me as being a realist. Nothing hurts like the truth but nothing is more important than the truth. If Booth tells it like it is, he's all right by me.

It could have been a grazing shot, landing around the ear? Maybe around the temple area? I'll have a look.

Though there was one round (can't remember off hand) where there was a brief (rare) exchange, with Haye against the ropes and Wlad threw some punches, the bell went and Haye kind of stumbled into the ropes, a little, as headed back to the corner. Maybe this was the thing Booth was talking about?

I did notice Haye looked a little shaky, as he walked back, but I can't honestly say if it was Round 6 or not. I shall re-watch it and see.
