i notice michael nunn was a real force in the late 80's thru to the mid 90's and after jones and toney looks the next best middle, super middle of his generation.
what were his best performances and what was his style like??? was he an exciting fighter??? or was he a bit boring???
also how do u think he would have fared against benn, eubank, watson, graham???
can u list your favourite nunn fights and describe his strengths and weaknesses

Nunn was a tall rangy talented southpaw with very good boxing skills. From what I recall he was a hit and move type wth a good accurate jab with the ability to throw effective counter punches but not always very exciting to watch. Due to this fact I've not watched any of his fights for years so forgive me if my recollections are a bit off the mark. If they are I am sure someone will correct me.
The best fights to watch of Nunn to see him at his best are against Tate and Roldan IMO. I seem to recall his fights with Victore Cordoba were very very dirty, if you like low blows watch these fights.
I always thought Nunn was best at Middleweight.
As for Nunn against the top Brits of that time at middle or supermiddle Nunn against Graham or Eubank would have been very dull fights I feel, but with reservations I see Nunn outpointing both.
Against the middleweight Benn, Nunn would know too much and stop Benn in around eight rounds. However Benn had the power to get lucky at any time in this fight. Nunn against the more seasoned Supermiddle Benn I've always seen as the opposite result with Benn chasing and bullying Nunn to a late stoppage, I feel others may differ.
Nunn against Watson would be very competative but still see Nunn taking a tight points victory.

Michael Nunn was a modern day Eddie Mustafa Muhammad: all the talent in the world, but he couldn't be bothered to train properly.

Nunn was one of boxings great natural athletes. With the huge physical advantages he had over nearly every opponent coupled with very sound textbook skills he should have been almost unbeatable. He had drug problems though i think and his general mentality and training habits cut short what should have been a better career. He looked like crap nearly every fight after the toney KO.
Graham would be the best bet to beat him but Graham was past it by the time Nunn was champ and probably wouldn't have the reflexes to outpoint him.

It's also worth adding he was excellent at scoring and countering while moving backwards. The Barkley fight if i remember is one of the better examples.

Nunn had fired his original trainers by the time of the Toney fight i think and was partying instead of properly training etc. This showed as Nunn tired late on in the fight.
Basically before he ran out of gas Nunn was having a pretty easy time with Toney.Toney won about 1 or 2 of the first 8 rounds but was coming on strong as Nunn tired and if he hadn't Knocked him out would probably have won the championship rounds as well. The best Toney could have gotten out of the fight in that scenario would have been a draw IMO.
The best Nunn beats the best Toney more often than not.

The Michael Nunn moment I remember best was his one-punch, first round, no sweat KO of Sumbu Kalambay. A highly anticipated fight that ended before you could get your first sip of beer.

Yes I remember that one it was a shocker, I think most people were expecting a long night that night. I picked Nunn to win in a tight 'chess match type' points victory, boy was I wrong.
It was a bit of a fluke result really with Nunn not being a big hitter and Kalambay being a durable tricky type. But like thay say "Anyone can be KO'd if their caught right".

a novice Toney broke Nunn down over the course of the fight, then strung together a few solid rounds and KO'd him....Toney did a good job of luring Nunn to stay in close for longer
the commentary for the fight was a little ridiculous and made it sound as though Toney was taking a beating early, when he actually wasnt hit cleanly very often

Michel Nunn wasn't known as a puncher but he did throw one of the best knockout punches I have ever seen ..The left that knocked out Sumbu Kalambay was an almost perfect punch...

Michael Nunn was a dull fighter, Imo. He had great hand and footspeed. He was also a shameless runner. He had no problem stinking out a joint. My favorite fight with Nunn is him getting ktfo'd by Toney. As for his fights with Graham, Benn, Eubank, Watson or Graham, they would all be debated. I thought the Barkley fight could have gone either way. I had trouble scoring his fights. He was a round stealer. He would do nothing and then try to steal the round. He would just stink out a joint. The guy had talent. His best performance was against Kalambay(Phonetic, I don't know how to spell it) He starched him with a straight left.
