LUKE BLACKLEDGE – Boxes the durable Sabie Montieth after previously fighting only 2 weeks ago on a Hatton SKY show

STEVIE TAYLOR – The popular Darwin fighter has his 2nd fight since turning pro against Carl Wilson

I Like Kenny Anderson but Joe Rea is a middleweight and has a poor record i can see anderson ko him in a couple of rounds

carl allen used to box at 8st 12......now hes 41 without a win in his last 66 bouts and fighting a welterweight...proper value

They do seem to recycle a lot of the older journeymen time and again. Carl Allen was good back in the day but without a win in 66 fights...... Kristian Laight rarely wins a round either yet gets the call regularly.

Plus their matchmaking is ridiculously cautious. For example, Tyrone Nurse is 17-0 and has fought absolutely nobody.

There's a difference between bringing fighters on and overly protecting them.

I've just noticed.... Anderson's opponent has back to back KO losses. I know he's been out for a while but come on

It will be a decent afternoons entertainment. But all the winners are known now before the show starts. I would be surprised if any of the "opponents" win a round put it that way.

How is that bill value for money ?

I will make a bet with you on the winner of each fight - would you take me up on this ? (I will of course be picking all home boxers to win).

I agree that this issue is not restricted to this promoter - the problem is endemic throughout boxing.

Apart from immediate family and friends, who actually buys tickets to these shows? - then the promoters (eg.FM on this site) moan about ticket sales. If they put on more competitive bouts, then more "general boxing fans" would buy tickets.

Ps - which boxers are you calling donuts ?

I have to agree, as I am North-West based I always take a look at the VIP bills as a possible show to attend, but never really see anything to get my teeth into. Very rarely do they ahve any 50-50 fights on the bill, just building records a lot of the time.

Exactly the same pal sat here on a boring wet Sunday & unfortunately that bill hasnt inspired me to spend my hard earned.

I'm a massive VIP fan, people like Steve wood keep the sport alive; however I'd love to see a title fight on the next bill at colne just to spruce it up a bit!

his next fight should be as a minimum an eliminator for the british or chase the rematch with groves

His next fight is on the Alex Arthur undercard in Agust against Lee Duncan.

Fair play to them for even putting the shows on and giving people a platform in this tough climate, but I think the current climate should give them all the more reason to put a load of 50/50 fights on and stop with the whole padding people's records up type stuff. It's a tricky one i know because records eventually get you title shots e.g. Jon Kays, Brian Rose, but most of their fights prior to the title shots were journeymen type outings.

Hi All ...Just thought I would let you know a little bit of the promoting issues as really this show should have been cancelled , a non TV show with good operators is very hard:-

a) It is not easy to get quality opponents as a lot are home fighters and do not want 50/50 matches - certainly not on non TV shows . Obviously we want our home fighters to win but we are not scared of having fights as must are capeable - seriously considering putting a few lads in together for the new season..
b) Shayne had a rib injury and had to be careful ,should have withdrew but he was needed.
c) The biggest ticket seller withdrew Friday with appendix problem
d) Kenny Anderson needed a fight and belive me he is not easy to match
e) Ali Sha not boxed for over a year - he will be matched tougth next as he has the ability.
f) Luke is a handful but had no amt fights and therefore have to be a bit careful with him .He did however end up beating a guy with a winning record when his opponent puled out 3 hours before the event.

We set out to give value for money and think we normally do as a lot of our fighters are really TV quality , the Boxing job is getting harder and nearly impossible .I think next year will see less shows by every one and indeed the boxers we care for are going to have to get in the real world - only a few really understand.

Last Sunday had 2 similar shows - 2 from the "home" sides were in the same weight class:-

Ali Shah 5-0 v Maxi Hughes 4-0

Shayne Singleton 7-0 v Kevin Hooper 8-0

Now would you pay if these were on the bill??? Lancashire v Yorkshire would be the theme, with agreed returns in Yorkshire.

I would pay for good competitive fights no doubt about it. I tend to find myself not bothering when it looks like the away fighters wont even win a minute never mind a round.

Err, Kevin Hooper is from Lincolnshire not Yorkshire mate.
