Chisora v Fury - Saturday, July 23rd US PPV Promo Spot

Are either of these guys well known in the US? Who is going to pay $50 for this?Owl wrote:In texas 50$ US of A dollars. In canada I do not believe it is available but I need to check. If you ask me this is absolutely ridiculous to pay 50$ or two guys who are still at prospect status.
Well, they play up the Irish angle with Americans all the time.Asterix wrote:Ah, they're going for Irish angle with Tyson Fury, despite him being born in England, living in England, having fought for the English title and being the son of an Englishman. Gah! In that case, I'm also Irish, despite being English.
IMO he's a british/irish travelling gypsie, most of us are british/irish anyway. And as far as im aware irish travellers official nationality is Irish and ethnicity is Irish Traveller. Since they are considered nomadic.mrbassie wrote:Well, they play up the Irish angle with Americans all the time.Asterix wrote:Ah, they're going for Irish angle with Tyson Fury, despite him being born in England, living in England, having fought for the English title and being the son of an Englishman. I think you're looking at it the wrong way anyway, Fury is an Irish name so I don't know how his dad is English, if his name was Tyson Smith I'd understand your reasoning. I was born in England and have lived here my whole life but that doesn't make me English any more than if I was born in the Congo I'd be black.
I doubt that most English nationalists would accept an Irish traveller (meaning Fury) as being English.
Ethnically he's an Irish traveller, legally he's a British citizen.
EDIT: Although from a slightly different angle I do share your cynicism though, playing up the ethnic angle in an attempt to con people out of $50 for a fight that's not worth $5 on ppv is quite appalling.
Ryan Toms (8-0)versus Pat Mcaleese (12-1-1) for the southern area light welterweight title (a regional english title) Phil Fury v.s Peter Vaughan. Phil Gill,Chris Evangelou,Damian Taggart and debutants Lee Markham and John Christopher are on the bill. Not sure if you've heard of any and who you'll be able to see on ppv. I've paid 50 pounds to watch it wembley arenaZhuge wrote:I think it's $24.95 in my area. I'd like to see the fight because I'd be interested to see Chisora fight since he may be the next opponent for Wlad (if he beats Fury). Dunno if it's worth $25, though. Theophane has been in some good fights, but he's in against a 36 year old that I'm unaware of. No idea if any other decent fights are on the card.
My surname is also Irish, but I'm definitely not Irish. Tyson Fury is English through and through, whether he likes it or not. His heritage is Irish, but what matters is where you were born and where you were brought up, when discussing nationality.mrbassie wrote:Well, they play up the Irish angle with Americans all the time.Asterix wrote:Ah, they're going for Irish angle with Tyson Fury, despite him being born in England, living in England, having fought for the English title and being the son of an Englishman. My original point was just an out-loud sigh at the manipulation of the American public.
This thread was commenting on the US PPV though.Owl wrote:Because everything in Current scene that relates to these two automatically gets shifted here. Apparently Being British supersedes being current.Horse wrote:Wasn't this thread in the current scene?

which is funny since its about the US ppv package. which has no bearing on us brits as we get it on free to air.Owl wrote:Because everything in Current scene that relates to these two automatically gets shifted here. Have to disagree there mate think David Price is most peoples favourite british Heavyweight prospect.Lackeos wrote:I don't understand why it would be PPV in America and free to air in England. It would seem like, if anything, Brits might be willing to pay money for it and Americans wouldn't.
Despite the fact that nobody, including Brits, really likes Chisora or Fury very much, the winner of this fight will pretty much be carrying the future of England's hopes and dreams. Chisora already won a prospect showdown with Sexton, and the winner of this will clearly be Britain's champion of prospects.
Agreed. David Price is the guy most of us believe has very good potential. The main worry with him is his chin.yid14 wrote:Have to disagree there mate think David Price is most peoples favourite british Heavyweight prospect.Lackeos wrote:I don't understand why it would be PPV in America and free to air in England. It's no cost to the promotion to throw it on PPV here. Why not do it? Before I found streams, I would have ended up getting it. I bought Sultan/Briggs.Lackeos wrote:I don't understand why it would be PPV in America and free to air in England. Yeah, Khan-Judah is PPV. They could be on the same channel as part of the same PPV. We sometimes have that here. You pay once and watch boxing from 9/10pm until 5am (starting in the UK and then moving to the US)!SaadOffTheDeck wrote:It's no cost to the promotion to throw it on PPV here. Why not do it? Is Khan/Judah PPV over there? That could also be a contributing factor.
