I don't mean this in a purely negative way, I have a lot of respect for Jane, her ambitions and what she is trying to achieve, but am just trying to be constructive but I don't think there is strong enough case to invest a lot of time and money in a website like this in the form being put forward. The goal of the website is as follows:

It has been a ambition of Janes for sometime to produce a boxing online community that can bring boxing fans, boxers and promotors all together in one place. I want this site to be the one stop place for all your boxing news, information and interviews personally brought to you by Jane and her own unique ways of interviewing promises to be great to watch.

My reasons why I don't think this can work are:

1) Existence of already thriving online boxing communities
There are already well established online boxing communities such as Boxrec, with many users that have been active for years. Most of these work well and have evolved to the point where they are well moderated and are already recognised and used by fans, media, athletes, promoters, trainers & other insiders. We do not often see outcries for change or for a need for somebody else to come in and revamp the whole thing. Butting in on something that is already well established and successful is incredibly difficult with limited experience and resources.

2) The name of the website
I don't know a single sporting website that is run off a persons name that succeeds as being a place people flock to in order to get information or discuss the sport. Look at Ricky Hatton, Carl Froch, David Haye etc. - none of these have thriving meaningful forums discussing all things boxing. There is good reason for this - it doesn't work! The only exception is fan club websites such as Cristiano Ronaldo etc. where most users are people obsessed with the celebrity of the person. So unless there is a thriving Jane Couch fan club, then I don't think there is much point in having a forum. People tend to like things that seem independent, as opposed to something that involves pushing a personality. Is it easier to sell a site called "Boxrec" or something called "John Sheppards Boxrec"? Also, as sexist as it may sound, boxing is best known as a mans sport. I've got a lot of respect for what Jane has achieved in boxing but will the casual boxing fan feel driven towards a boxing site with a womans name attached to it? The reality is probably not. If big name fighters can't use their celebrity to create a successful and thriving one stop shop for boxing, then how difficult would it be to do for somebody without a well recognised name, and a woman at that, in what is arguably the most male driven and macho sport of them all? Jane may have been up against the odds many times before in her life and came out on top, but an individuals name behind a one stop all inclusive sporting website to my knowledge has not worked before - in any sport.

3) Staffing
How many people will be running this operation? In order to be a one stop shop for boxing news you will need some sort of efficient news compiler getting the fastest and most relevant updates in addition to some in house writers whom can get exclusives and write strong articles that will not be available elsewhere. This is a lot of work and costs money. The video interviews are original and fun, but due to the spontaneous nature (or at least perceived spontaneity) they are probably considered as more of an amusing stop off rather than an in depth piece that reveals inside truths and happenings in the sport.

Finally, I do personally "get" the interviews Jane does and find them amusing and recognise that they do give provide an insight and show personality rarely captured using a traditional interview manner. I admire her drive and commitment to this, but I don't think trying to build a one stop shop for boxing news and forums is the right way forward. My own advice would be to stick to the interviews and a blog for now. Find your niche, work hard on it and see how that goes. Too much investment (time and money) in trying to be all things, I feel, is a recipe for disaster, but very best of luck with it.

P.S. Please don't take this as insulting or patronising because it is certainly not my intention, it is only one persons opinion after all.

The website is all self funded just trying to have a laugh and interviews all people that don't get much reconigtion in the sport and not just the big names It's supposed to be a laugh and as it's all self funded by me I can put what I like on there It's only really for people who GET boxing Its not a site that make money I just enjoy doing it
